Hiya, boys;

I don't know how the bowl thing is going to shake out, but, speaking just for myself, I would be proud to matchup with a team from your distinguished conference.
Troy vs Southern Miss would be the ideal matchup. We still remember the 2008 New Orleans Bowl, and the other games we played since were pretty close + we play again in 2019 or so... some form of rivalry developing here...

Besides, you guys stole Jaylond Adams from us on signing day. How is he panning out?

Nothing against you guys but if we go to Nola I want CUSA champ

Otherwise I want Toledo so we can possibly get ranked at end of year
I don't want Southern Miss, simply because we played them last year and will be playing them again in 2 years I believe? I want some variety.

Nothing against USM though. You're the name brand in CUSA.
Hated missing the Troy -State game and despite technically sharing with App, Troy played the 2nd place team and App didn't. App needs the Cure....Troy New Orlenas

I disagree, Troy vs USM should be played every year.

Toledo's pass OFF ranks at #20 or so and Troy's pass D not even in the Top 50. Thanks, but no thanks.

NB and VK aren't backing down from any challengers and neither should the fans.
Troy v UNT

Troy's resume

Boise State (10-3) #25 - Lost on the road by 8. Troy actually played reasonably well in this one
Alabama State (FCS) - Won big at home
NMSU (6-6) - Won in a squeaker on the road. Game wasn't as close as the final score though.
Akron (7-6) - Won in a close game at home
LSU (9-3) #16 - Won on the road, in a game that wasn't as close as the final score. Easily the best win OOC in either CUSA or the Belt this year.
USA (4-8) - lost at home, and got beat badly in a WTF game. Troy turned the ball over a bazillion times and had special teams problems.
Georgia State (6-5) - won on the road big
Georgia Southern (2-10) - won big at home
Idaho (4-8) won in a squeaker at home
Coastal (3-9) won big on the road
Texas State (1-11) won big at home
Arkansas State (7-4) won in a statement conference game on the road

So, looking at Troy's results, they played poorly vs USA, Idaho, Akron, and NMSU, but still won 3 of those games. Played really well vs. LSU, Ga State, and Arkansas State (all on the road). 1-1 vs Top 25. 5-1 vs bowl eligible teams.

Now lets look at UNT

Lamar (FCS) - won big at home
SMU (7-5) - got crushed in a local road game
Iowa (7-5) - got beat in a road game. UNT lead at half but was shut down in the 2nd half. Iowa is probably 'better' than the run of the mill 7-5 P5 team.
UAB (8-4) - Won in a squeaker at home. UAB is a goodish team, but I think their record reflects more of a very weak schedule than anything else
USM (8-4) - Good win at a good team
UTSA (6-5) - Won in a squeaker at home against a team that beat nobody all year. Had to come back in the 4th quarter to do it.
Florida Atlantic (10-3) - Got destroyed by 38 points on the road against a good FAU team
Old Dominion (5-7) - Barely won at home vs a bad team (they're worse than their record). ODU was winning in the 4th
quarter.
Louisiana Tech (6-6) - Barely won on the road. La Tech was winning in the 4th quarter.
UTEP (0-12) - Won at home against the worst team in FBS
Army (8-3) - Won at home against a legit good team. Close game.
Rice (1-11) - Won big against a bad team
FAU (10-3) - Lost again, badly, to a good team.

Wins versus Top 25 (0-0). 4-4 vs Bowl eligible teams.

Good games: Army, UAB, @USM
Bad games: ODU, La Tech, UTSA

----

It seems that UNT plays stronger than Troy in the 4th quarter. That being said, Troy usually didn't have to come back in the 4th. Troy seems to play better overall away from home.

Welp, you get to test your pass D against the #21 ranked pass offense in the nation. You're welcome.07-coffee3

Dance and party all you want between the 20’s. It gets nasty in the red zone. Ask Ark St.

We run the same offense. Our top ranked defense has seen that offense everyday in practice. We're both from the same Hal Mumme coaching tree. Neal Brown was OC at Texas Tech, and our DC Vic Koenning was at UNC when Seth Littrell was there.

Our DC will know all of your air raid tricks and since our defense is a lot better I'd give the edge to Troy.

Troy beat NMSU (#4 in passing offense) and us (#6 in passing offense, #11 in total offense) away. I dont think they'll be scared of your passing offense...07-coffee3

It's that redzone steel curtain of Troy's defense you should be worried about.05-mafia
Drink you a few hand grenades...it'll be the highlight of your trip. You green meanies didn't automatically get better from moving over to coosa...you know how this story ends.

I believe Troy can handle the pass attacks. Troy plays some very good man coverage despite the NCAA stats. Troy gets passed on a lot because that #14 run defense shuts down the run game. Troy's also #18 in intercepting passes.

Overall, I like the different strengths both teams bring to this bowl game. Should be interesting.
