You might be right because I don't think we will be .500 in conference. It's a lot harder to recruit in both football and basketball if neither one is getting any national recognition. It's hard to get back up after being down for a couple of years so next year will really be important and I don't see a lot coming back next year in either sport.........I would hate to see a downhill spiral.

Hate to say it but Tulsa sports program in both MBB and Football is in a death spiral. It has to be stopped soon or TU maybe so far gone there maybe no coming back. One of the biggest problems stopping anyone from wanting to watch the teams is out of line ticket prices and fees. Anyone shopping for a season ticket or a walkup buyer would get sticker shock when comparing prices of TU's ticket prices to most of the other entertainment venues in the Tulsa area. There is no comparison. Tulsa isn't even in the running.
Playing a 2-10 Prairie View AT HOME.......and win by 4 points......that really doesn't bode well for the season. We might be really, really lucky to get to .500 by the end of the season. I don't know if it's the coaching or the talent but whatever it is.......it ain't working.

I would say the root of the problem is in this priority: AD, policys, Coaching, all leading to mediocre recruiting and attendance. I don't really blame the players, they play the way they are coached. The problems are deep and have been there for a while.
It will interesting to see how this MBB team does when they start the conference games. They have improved some since the start of the season. They are winning more of the games they should be winning in the first place. They lost too many of those games last year. Unfortunately I still see them winding up near the bottom of the AAC when its all said and done. To do otherwise they will have to beat some of those teams no thinks they can win against. That is a difficult task but not impossible.
Better than you all thought?

We have an outside shot at the NIT, which is where I thought we would be before our Aussie bailed.

The loss to Lamar is really hurting us. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Take it away and we are an NIT team trying to get on the bubble with a good conference tourny run.

Kind of a frustrating season so far with herky jerky progress.
Yeah looks like this thread is worthless. Nothing about is remotely accurate.
Look at the date when this thread was first started a lot can happen in 2 or 3 months and it did Tulsa got better. I suspect Tulsa losing its only true center forced the team as whole to come together and be determined to get better across the board. Well that happened which is a good thing. You couldn't determine that sort thing several months ago at the start of the season when Tulsa was losing games out of conference left and right. Tulsa didn't really start to win games until the conference games started and then it was mostly a mid and late season rally. Yes I was skeptical that Tulsa was going to be any good when they couldn't buy a win at the first of the season. Tulsa had a bunch of losses several of which they should never have lost prior to conference season games. They got better mid to late season. Good!
Magnay going pro hurt us, more timing I think than anything else. Our ooc performances early are likely caused by that.

After adjusting and smoothing out a bit Jeffries got hurt.

Like a kid learning to drive a stick we've lurched and killed it a couple times. It appears our clutch work has gotten better. Let's hope we keep the smooth driving up.

The team as whole learned how to play together. Didn't see much of that during the early pre-conference season. They were still trying to get an identity of what type of team they were and still lacked that cohesiveness to play together as a team. Now they don't even resemble the team that started the early season, their better than they were then.

They seem to fit together nicely. Lately they have been playing great together. Should be fun to watch the end of the season.

I'm also excited to see what Jeffries can do in a normal 3 roll next year. Taplin will be a beast next year. Need Korita to be a shooter and Igbanu to keep tearing it up inside. If Scott can take over Henderson's insta offense we will be very good. All in all I like how we look for this year and the next little while.
