I can't believe it was reported during the American Conference Championship...totally disrespectful to UCF, Memphis, the American Conference and even Scott Frost
Another flavor of the month that could prove not very good. Frost needs several more years in G5 as head coach before he takes a job like that.

McMurphy and ESPN couldn’t wait 30 minutes ...very disrespectful

You have to report news once you get it, especially if other outlets have it. I think they could have kept it to the breaking news scroll and not have the guys in the booth talk about it during the most tense part of a very tense title game, but ignoring it completely also would have been irresponsible on their part.

I know some people don't like the sideline reporter asking about it, but at least he asked general-purpose "how do you feel" questions leading up to it. I think he was hoping Frost would just blurt out a confirmation. You could tell he was uncomfortable, or at least very emotional, there.

I don't think it was anything nefarious on the part of ESPN, other than again, they could have let the TV crew focus on the game itself while scrolling the news below. Once news breaks, you have to react quickly.
Maybe the AAC will realize ESPN views them as the easy girl when no one else is available. AAC needs to hope NBC shows interest and bolt.

lol...Well, the easy girl usually at least gets a few free drinks out of the deal. I actually think NBC will make a run at the AAC. The AAC wouldnt be a bad property to use as a lead in for Notre Dame games or as Saturday programming on NBC-Sports. I could see the AAC splitting thier package between NBC and ESPN.

As for the Frost thing--news breaks when it breaks. Id like to see some revisions of the rules governing contact between schools and coaches. It would be nice if we could say no contact until after bowl season (this would require adjusting the early and late signing days as well to give new staffs a reasonable period of time to talk to players).
Come on, everyone knew this would happen. Both sides were giving answers in interviews that made Frost to Nebraska sound like a match made in heaven. I agree that this took away from the game, but I can see why ESPN would jump on this. Either they do it or they get scooped.

In all honesty, I'd say UCF is a better job than Nebraska at the moment, if only because there isn't the massive discrepancy between expectations and reality in Orlando. I can understand the pull to go home, though, especially if a hero's welcome awaits you there.
Word on the street is that Frost and his staff are coaching the Peach. Don't know how I feel about that.

It's the right thing to do. Finish what you started

From a finishing standpoint, that is great but what happens from a recruiting standpoint. How many of the Frost recruits follow him to Nebraska or go elsewhere since they may not know the coach? Has UCF identified any replacements?

Total nonsense post. The job of reporters is to tell us the news asap, not be 'respectful' to the "American Conference" et al.

Tomorrow, remember to turn on your brain when you wake up and approach the keyboard, OK? 07-coffee3
I see it as more of a Frost/Nebraska issue. They should have done a better job of keeping it quiet until after the bowl game.

I've got no idea how they would work the logistics

McMurphy doesn't work for ESPN any longer. He still has to prove his ability every day as just an independent reporter.

If he has the story, why shouldn't he break it? Every other NCAA writer on Twitter basically confirmed Brett's story.

The Nebraska A.D. is to blame. He apparently phoned recruits to tell them and that's how it got leaked. For crying out loud could the putz not wait 2 hours while the kids were probably watching the games anyway? It's low class.

You know what is disrespectful? Accepting another job while you're getting your current team ready for a conference championship game.

You know what is even more disrespectful? Having your coaching staff tell recruits that you are recruiting to your current school that you will recruit them when you go to your next school.
