Seems to be the new trending thing on Hogville. Expect a UT style meltdown.
I've heard a few rumblings of this around town too.

No one knows anything. Reports are continually coming out that "x" coach is meeting with "x" team, then later that day it a reported that it wasn't true.
The boosters want Venable or Morris. This has been widely reported in the press. (Not forums, but the press with actual sources.) The Arkansas Gazette today talked about Norvell being a top prospect, but they also said Norvell will not come cheap. He will likely require a Beilema level of pay, as the Gazette mentioned Memphis has pumped up his value. So they know he will be an expensive hire.

Venable currently makes $1.7million, and Morris makes about $2million. Both of those guys could probably be had for a million per year less than Norvell, and those are the guys the boosters like.

I also wouldnt rule out Leach to Arkansas.

Personally, I would love to see how Leach would do at Arkansas. I am not a huge fan of Arkansas, but Leach is his own man....even when he wasn't a super well known coach, he still was his own man. Wild card, yes, eccentric, yes, but his style of play would be interesting. Would he be Hal Mumme part 2? Or would he be successful?

Leach wins wherever he goes. It would take a rebuild at Arky, but he would bring them back like he did Washington State.
At Texas Tech, he had finally got his teams to beat Texas. I wonder how much better Tech would be if Craig James hadn't gotten him fired.
Big money being tossed at Malzahn...will he take it? We should know something after Saturday’s games...

No one wants to waste funds, but the SEC is like a healthy money tree. I am surprised money is an obstacle in hiring Norvell for the Runts.

Leach...was he the guy that locked a player in a closet or some dang thing?

Look at the revenues. They are all cheap. [1]

Quote:No. 8 Arkansas: $68.97 million

Arkansas turned a profit of $34.7 million in 2015-16, good for eighth best in the conference.

They have more money than us, but they for some reason won't spend it? You make 30M$ a year in profit and you are worried about giving MN a 20M$ contract?

It's even worst for a team like UTk.

Sad for those fan-bases that their administration won't do what it takes to win.

Malzahn to Arkansas is like Gruden to Tennessee...never happen.

They've got a lot of bills to write at the moment.

I wouldn't say never. He's probably their coach right now if they lose to Alabama.
Arkansas and Tennessee are very similar jobs. Auburn is better than both.

Good info, thanks. It reinforces my skepticism that lack of money is the primary reason they may back off on Norvell. I am also skeptical the AD and President are reluctant to spend it. Sadly (in the the case of the President), the football coach hire is their number one priority. A misfire is a career endangering event.

Craig James kid for a concussion.
Some of them (Arkansas fans) are saying Morris is just a smokescreen and it down either Malzahn or Norvell

A bidding war between UTK and Arkansas over Morris is what we all want to see.
How about Fuente? Favorite at FSU with Taggart.

Fuente can keep the Virginia Tech job probably as long as he wants.
