Worked for what's his name at CMU. Sure could use the experience.
Doubtful
Wassink-Goddard-Little-Mussat

Someone needs to emerge as a quality MAC-level starter next year, or I will have no faith in Tim's ability to develop QB's. That is supposed to be his strength.

Little left the program before the 2016 season.

Probably meant Riddle.

Yup. Sorry.
Yuck. Not interested.

Speight is garbage.

Speight is garbage.

I’m not campaigning for Speight (I still lean toward building a QB from scratch over a 1 year rental).

But I remember similar comments made about Morris when he left scUM. And yet he’s a major reason why CMU is 8-4.

Exactly. Took Morris a few games to get going but CMU is in a much better spot for bowl selection than we are.
Wonder if Morris and Speight are buddies after playing together for several years? I suspect that Speight has seen what happened with Morris, and I'm wondering if Morris suggested that Speight come in and take over his spot at CMU.

On the other hand, Speight might be planning a P5 move, and think he needs a bigger spotlight. Morris didn't have that as an option I don't think. Advantage of a G5 is that he might get a guarantee of a starting spot, whereas a good P5 schools might just tell him to come and compete. My guess is that CMU coaches promised Morris something, or he would have been pulled early on, because he was terrible for most of the year.
Unlike Morris, Speight started 23 games for a Big Ten school.

I bet he is looking for another P5 program, not MAC.
Ok. How about Croft from Minnesota? He's transferring. That could be a nice thumb in Flecks eye.

We don't need a one year stop gap... we need to continue to grow that position from within so we don't get a one year flash... If he ends up at CMU then that just prolongs the growth of that position yet one more year. Morris took some lumps early and somehow was left in position to grow through it... indicates that CMU is likely thin at the position... We are not thin at QB after this season... Like I said in another thread... Wassink would walk the second Speight stepped on campus. Possibly Goddard too...
Yeah i don't really want a rental at this point. This season would have been the year for that, not 2018. We need to continue Wassink's development.

Completely agree.

No point in even considering this as an option. Would be foolish.
1.) No way he would consider WMU

2.) QB transfer with one year of eligibility isn't the answer

3.) Wassink played fairly well before he went down with injury, with a little more time and experience he could be the answer

4.) Goddard has clearly shown that he is definitely not the answer and should be the #3 next year. He shouldn't play again.
Yeah, even with Wassink's learning curve, he was very efficient and protected the ball. Check out his stats in the MAC, you'll be surprised. He's going to be really good if he and his receivers keep developing. They have two more seasons together to build chemis-tree.

Too bad Speight is leaving, the quitter. He's no Scott Dreisbach!
Alex Malzone also transferring out of UM.
UM has five leaving so far.

Is Wassink healed? Can he throw yet? A lot of people making assumptions on QBs but collerbone injuries have ended careers. Lester stated he probably won't be ready by bowl time which I see as red flag. It would be two months post injury. Rogers is throwing 40 yard tosses already in practice for the Packers.

It's only been 5 weeks, 6 weeks on Sunday. If he didn't have surgery, it takes awhile, and then you have to get the arm strength back up. It depends on the break, too. Rodgers basically has a steel bar now instead of a bone there, and those NFL guys are crazy mutants.
