I enjoy the G-4 banter and creative trolling, but we are not part of the P-5 yet. However, our conference is the best - from top to bottom - of the G-5 and we are creating a growing gap from the rest of the G-5.

Consistently winning out-of-conference games and earning and winning the Access Bowl game will eventually, IMO, create the perception and reality of the AAC as a "Power" conference. It is a long road, but the journey is underway.
Peer Conference Championships
Clearly P6
Direct competition on OTA ABC against the Big 12 championship that is on OTA Fox. All on the same time slot. Finally and apples to apples comparison for ratings. Wonder how we do? Considering how many people were watching last Friday's war on I4, I say we do pretty good head to head.

No, the media is right. P5. We've replaced the Pac 12.

Did we get over 1 million?
Hopefully this is the year the American has broad postseason success. Bowl season has been a disappointing time for us so far.
P6 is fun to tweak G4 trolls with. I do believe that USF being ranked Pre-Season was a tipping point for the AAC. If we can build off that and have UCF, Memphis and maybe USF again ranked in the Pre-Season next year then we are well on our way to establishing ourselves as the next level up from G4. A good run at basketball would also help.

because we lose our coaches in bowl season.

P6
This is another part of TV deal that needs to be sold separately. P5 get 20 mil range for their champ game, ours has to be worth 5 to 10 mil.

Considering how many people were live tweeting about the game including celebrities, and trended #1 for a while, I would anticipate well over a million. Would love to see it break the 3.0 barrier. My cousin in NY, who hates college football and only watches NFL, was actually texting me during the game about how awesome it was.

We have the perfect scenario here for an apples to apples comparison with the Big12. How much did they sell the rights for their championship game?
The difference between P5 and everyone else is money. The only way to crack the P5, other than conference realignment, is to fill up stadiums and to bump up television ratings. It would help if we could sign deals with better bowls. Instead of playing MAC, MWC, Sun Belt, and CUSA teams, we should find bowls where we're only playing P5 schools.
P6 Certified
Honestly I think our conference is better than the Pac-12. West coast football is just not on the same level.
If there is a P5, then I guess the Pac is G5 with the rest of the losers.

Are you guys joking?

3:30 ABC game your target is four million. Go check comparable timeslots for broadcast networks on Black Friday.
'15 Navy Houston and '16 Memphis Houston got over 3 million at noon on ABC Black Friday.

One million will be a disappointing number for this year's Navy Houston game at noon on ESPN. Anything below 4 million should disappoint for two ranked (in polls) teams in that slot.

Think they will leave USF out no matter what they do in their bowl because of Flowers leaving

Yup. It would be a huge deal to see some upgraded bowl line up in the next bowl cycle. Unfortunately, it will probably be easier to land a $10 million a team deal than to significantly upgrade our bowl line up. My guess is we see incremental improvement in our bowl line up. The real key for us is to land a legitimate anchor bowl for the AAC that could serve as the guaranteed post season destination for our champion (or runner up in years our chsmp claims the access bowl slot).

My guess is we will probably just add a couple of full ties to a pair of current G5 vs P5 bowls we have limited or no ties with (Ft Worth and Heart of Dallas). Getting a full time ACC opponent in St Pete is another possible incremental upgrade.
