My bad. I just know we're playing 'em around Christmas in basketball, and I wouldn't be surprised if they lost to Troy . . . And still beat us.

Uhhhh, they beat 6th-ranked Auburn.
So?
They might beat us, but I wouldn't be scared of finding out.

You assuming they would roll over us is pretty pathetic.

Uhhhh, they beat 6th-ranked Auburn.

I think that's the key factor. We beat 75th ranked UCLA. We also beat some pretty good teams in the AAC, but we didn't have a second solid school on the non-conference schedule. We decided that the Georgia State home and away series was a good idea.
With our offense, we shouldn’t be scared of any SEC team outside of Bama, Auburn, and Georgia.

Besides these 3 we could beat any other SEC team on a neutral field.

Our QB and skill position players (this year) are BCS level players. It’s unreal but true.
Troy is 8-2.
Silvers would start at any school in Tennessee ( other than us) Mississippi, ot Arkansas. Chunn is a beast. Jamarius Henderson (remember him) is playing good ball. Niel Brown is a helluva coach and I hope he is on our short list.

Football much?

Yeah it all has to do with the teams each has played. LSU has played better competition and have more quality wins than we do. It really isn't rocket science. I'd say we'd be somewhere around a 9 point underdog if we played them on a neutral field. With that being said, I think we would have a chance of winning.

LSU is ranked ahead of us because they are in the circle jerk SEC

Mississippi state took a huge jump from unranked to 17 after beating LSU who was clearly over ranked at 12

Then Georgia smashes an over ranked state team and they get their "respect" as the best team in the country... Then auburn smashes state further proving states ranking is crap.

Then state and LSU go through the bottom 10 in the SEC which is horrible this year becoming ranked again. Yet any outsider had to be dang near perfect

Certainly true.
Miss State came back to beat a 7 loss Arkansas team.
LSU beats a 7 loss Arkansas team.
South Carolina beats the Wofford Terriers.

All 3 of these teams moved up 2 spots in the CFP. Only one other team, Boise State had a more than 1 point rise. They also beat a 7 loss team.

Yep. The perception of the Sec always begins with the rankings that come before a game is played. I suspect they’ll get creamed in Bowl season.
Two years ago, in spite of losing our coach, we lost to a 6-6 Auburn with one of our best teams ever. The next season, we lost to WKY who lost their coach, so sometimes it matters, sometimes it does not, which means it has no predictable effect.

Hate them or not, the overall caliber of teams in the SEC is pretty good, so winning any games there outside of a Vandy etc...now and then is still good.

Good enough to merit a three loss team being over us this year? Maybe not, but using that logic of knocking big conference teams, our win over UCLA would get discounted too.

If we replaced three of our conference wins with three SEC games and going 2-1 in those three, we would likely be ranked higher.
The reality of it is that these rankings really don't matter outside of getting into the playoff. Memphis needs to take care of ECU and hope that USF can beat UCF. And if not, take care of UCF in the AAC 'ship. Do those things and the tigers are in the NY6,
LSU should be ranked ahead of us. LSU is loaded with talent. Beating them would require an upset. They would likely overpower us much like Auburn did in the bowl game two years ago.
