Let' start this off with a bit of 05-stirthepot

One of the dirtiest plays from an always chippy contest. A club to the head followed by a camel clutch from Mr. Kenneth Dixon. No flag although right in front of the ref.
Oh...and La Tech is no stranger to running up the score on UTSA. Frank Wilson remembers last year:

There is way more to this story than is out in the public. From what I've been told Holtz sent a manager or GA to the UTSA side when the game was well in hand in the fourth quarter asking Wilson if both coaches would essentially agree to mail the rest of the game in and run out the clock to speed up the game and prevent injuries. Wilson said something along the lines of "You play your game and we'll play ours" in response and Holtz didn't like his smart ass response and kept pouring it on.

If true, that is a pretty awesome story and sounds like something Frank Wilson would say. 03-lmfao

Still, there is a lot of bad blood. I remember the WAC days where a sophomore only UTSA team went into to face a #22 La Tech team. I believe y'all had that Patton kid at WR that year. Anyhow, UTSA put up a good fight until halftime. By the mid 4th quarter, La Tech had the game well under control but elected to go for a fake FG and a passing TD to run up the score even more. Perhaps padding the stats to keep the ranking in place? Regardless, that was the first meeting between the teams. Thought we'd be rivals from here on out.
This running up the score is a bit of an exaggeration. It was a 14 point game with 5mins to play...That's still a game...Ask USM. We picked up an onside kick and ran it back for a touchdown. Then we ran the ball up the middle 6 times and scored.

But hey if Wilson needs that to motivate his team...go for it.

Last year, LA Tech won 63-35. Going into the 4th quarter, the score was 42-14. I'm assuming the conversation between Holtz and Wilson happened somewhere around there.

I don't know or care if the conversation took place. It was 49-35 with 5 mins left. Then we scored on an onside kick to make it 56-35. Then we ran the ball 6 times and our backup QB ran it in from the 1 yard line to make it 63-35. I want to say Holtz was asked about that last score and it was a deal where the backup offense had driven down the field and wanted a chance to score. Your coach is saying we ran the score up. I just want to know at what point we were doing that.
UAB fans still accuse us of running up the score on them 70-14 several years ago. They were right about the “running part as we had 9 rushing td’s. There was only one passing score that game...link to story included.

With no scoring in the 4th quarter you can argue that Southern Miss pumped the breaks though.

Our game was a 14 point game with 5 minutes to play. At what point should we have pumped the breaks?

Pardon the interruption. I interrupt this programming to bring you an important message. I'm picking up some chatter regarding Skip Holtz and the Ole Miss job.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I hope LaTech wins by 50. Go Dawgs

Okay so our last drive of the game is what has your panties in a wad. Like I said. Backup offense drove down the field by running the ball up the middle...They got down to the 1 yard line and wanted to score a touchdown. If a one yard touchdown from our backup quarterback hurts your feelings I'm sorry. If the same thing happens to us this year, I won't be whining about it next year that's for sure. And I don't think coach Holtz will be saying you ran up the score on us either.

No wads of panties here. I'm just pointing out facts and something the team and fans remember going back to 2010. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. It is just good talking points for this game.

We didn't start playing until 2012. You said we ran up the score on you that time. And we probably did. We were trying to maintain our top 25 ranking and Dykes was working on getting a P5 job.

In 2013 you beat us by 20 points. In 2014 we beat you by 7 and ended the game in victory formation. In 2015 we beat you by 3 points. So I don't really see this pattern of running the score up on you.

I saw him listed for the Arkansas job. I just can't see Skip being that high on anyone's list with his inability to win this conference.
Ole Miss might have a hard time finding someone. Would $3 to $4 million get it done?

For Skip? I think so but who knows. He said he's turned down other opportunities already. I don't think he has an agent and I can't see him leaving his team to negotiate a contract...If we make it to a bowl I think it would have to be a January hire like when he went to USF.
