DSU 2016-2017 Roster
Delaware State is 1-3, losing on the road at Depaul 57-81, Fort Wayne 71-85 and UIC 55-95. They beat DIII Cairns at home by 71-50.

Preseason they were one of the lowest ranked teams by SI in DI at 346 (5th from the bottom and 12th in the MEAC). Blue Ribbon ranks them slightly higher - 9th in the MEAC, a couple of notches below Savannah State.

They lost 4 of their top 5 scorers. They average 63.5 ppg to 77.8 for opponents: a negative 14.3 (316th in D1). Shooting is an awful .375 from the field (322nd in D1) with .246 from 3 for a total of 16 makes (4 per game, 339th in D1). http://www.ncaa.com/stats/basketball-men...eam/153/p7 Only 1 guy averages over .304 from 3, Kobe Ganz with .385 (5-13). They average 3.0 more turnovers per game than opponents, tied for 282nd in DI. Their rebounding margin is even, a major improvement from the last 2 years, at least showing some fight . By the way, their stats would rank lower, but they include the game against DIII Cairns.

Looks like we might finally get to see Edwards tonight based of this tweet. Looking forward to seeing him play.

Interesting. To those of you who didn't see the open scrimmage......watch how fluid his movement is, and see if he doesn't remind you of Keith Wilkes (those of you who aren't too young, that is).

If poster's Keith Wilkes comparison is even a little on target, it should be worth watching.
It certainly remains to be seen if he can shoot like that (not likely), or maybe defend like Wilkes could, but just the way he moves, and his long, graceful strides. And his shot at least somewhat resembles Keith's, I'd say, although he doesn't hold it up as high before release.
And remember, Wilkes was not a player who stunned you with power, or flash, or anything of the sort. He was just graceful, fluid (I hate that I keep using those two words, but they seem most apt), and efficient. His aggressiveness, and defensive intensity will be two big question marks, but as I've said before, those last few minutes of the scrimmage he showed he certainly has some of the aggressiveness on offense, at least. Looong stride in the open court.
"just graceful, fluid"

They didn't call him "Silk" Wilkes for nothing. But he rode those qualities to the Hall of Fame.

2 NCAA titles and 4 NBA titles. A name change to Jamaal Abdul-Lateef reflects his religious journey, but just doesn't capture the player like "Silk" Wilkes did.
I will be at this game, and hopefully the Fort Wayne game. Won't be able to make it to the Troy game. Looking for a hopefully easy game tonight.
Edwards is in street clothes.
"Andre isn't going to dress out until he lives up to the expectations of our program" - Forbes on pre-game interview
I caught the tail end of what he was saying, but it sounded like Overstreet had an injury during a practice at Savannah St. and will probably be out for the year

They said before that(?) game (may actually have been before the previous game) that he was in a brace on the bench. Don't remember the exact verbiage, but it sounded serious.
Offense playing too much street ball.
Really not a big fan of these early 3 pt shots in the possession. Although, i guess if they were actually falling it'd be different
Was surprised to learn that Oregon St. was in the MEAC (according to Mahler).
No shooters whatsoever. If Payne isn't hot there is nobody on the floor who can consistently knock down a 3pt shot esp. with Bradford on the bench. . Yet it's all they want to shoot.
Jurkin only one playing with heart. Everyone else is inexperienced or hung-over.

Jurkin so far: 3 pts.; 5 rebounds; 2 blocks
This team was leading Kentucky?
