we're taking lasalle out behind the wood shed as i type this. 30 point lead at the end of the 4th quarter. they started to put things together late in the penn state game but had too big a hole to dig out of. scoring is very balanced with 3 players in double figures. i feel like we're going to be very good over the next few years.
Denisie's teams over the years always were good but never seemed to really beat teams bad, even teams that were significantly worse. Beating a local team in LaSalle by 25 is very promising.
Another win for the women 63-54 over Bucknell after a cold start. Next up, their version of Paradise in Melbourne, FL. It will just be a round robin with half the original field rather than a bracketed tournament like the men. They play three big conference schools: Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Butler.
We just cant get rid of playing Kenny Brooks! He is a great coach and probably the only one better than Denise in the CAA (while he was here before going to VT). He has gotten the better of us for too long. That will be a tough bracket for sure. Hopefully we see what we have in that tournament. Nice win today over Bucknell.
Paradise Jam has not gone so well, but was against very good teams. Started off with a 12 point loss to VT (with JMU's former coach). Played that game tough was down just 3 after the 3rd quarter but seemed out of gas and VT pulled away.

Yesterday got beat badly by #11 West Virginia. Lose by 33

They conclude today against Butler and will be underdogs in that one as well. Butler lost by 7 to WVU and beat VT yesterday by 2. Good luck to the ladies today hopefully they have a good showing.
Women playing well today to finish off the Paradise Jam. Up 13 on Butler in the 4th quarter.
Nice 76-62 win over Butler today and a big win against a team from the Big East. Like their male counterparts, the women also finished up the Paradise Jam 1-2. This is looking like another same ole same ole with the Lady Dragons. I know I’m looking way ahead of myself right now but they look like a team that’s strong enough to finish in the upper tier of the CAA this year, but not sure if they’ll be strong enough to surpass JMU or even Elon this year. Hopefully they use the home court to their advantage in the CAA Tournament this year.
wow i was not aware the women's tournament is at drexel. are they moving it around to campus sites now?

denise has a good system and recruits players that fit it. i'm fine with being in the mix every year especially since she won the whole thing once. she might have more titles if not for edd at delaware. this group seems young with potential to have multiple scoring options. i do think they'll need at least 1 bigger/physical player in the post if they're going to match up with power 5 teams...or even jmu who seems to be able to recruit that type of player.
I think Elon is top dog this year. I think we will be battling for 2nd. JMU is down, though they seem to reload every year. It will be interesting to see if JMU continues reloading without Kenny Brooks.

That was a really good field for this tournament. WVU went 3-0 and us, VT and Butler all went 1-2. Tournaments like that against very good teams is how we prepare ourselves for the future and the CAA tournament. Even better to actually come away with a victory against this field. Hopefully this team keeps on progressing, because right now they look very good.

Yeah, I guess they realized that it wasn't necessary to keep renting out the horse barn in Maryland every year for a neutral site. JMU last year, Drexel this year, and Delaware next year. Nothing has been announced after that. I think it's going to be a great atmosphere at the DAC in March, especially considering how small the DAC is. JMU and Delaware support their women's teams will and will travel to Philadelphia. If if the DAC Pack cares enough to try to recruit a championship like student crowd to the Drexel games, it could be a lot of fun.
The women won their last two games with ease, winning at home over Lafayette by 15 and @ Delaware State by 21. This week will start off with another hopefully easy road win when they are at Niagara followed by another challenging game @Syracuse. The following week heading into Christmas we have @St Joes and home against Cornell before we kick off our conference slate right after Christmas against Delaware. By the time Christmas hits we should see just where this team stands. @Cuse and @St Joes will both be challenges and it would be great if we can win at least one of those.
Drexel did something very rare in the Lafayette game. They shot under 30% for the game and won by 15 points. It's rare that any team shoots under 30% and wins. But to win by that much with such poor shooting is remarkable.

Another note, Drexel's 5'3" PG, Hannah Nihill, was rookie of the week in the CAA.

Lafayette's 29 TOs tended to help out in that respect.
I just followed the online play by play and nothing else, but it looks like Drexel just pulled out a miraculous win at Niagara 66-65.

Drexel trailed by 9 with 2:13 left to play. They also trailed by 5 with 16 seconds left. Then Lidge hit a 3 pointer with 16 seconds left. After a timeout, Niagara turned the ball over with 11 seconds left. Marecic hit a 3 pointer with 5 seconds left to put Drexel up by 1 and Greenberg stole the ball away with 1 second left to seal the win.

It's a game that Drexel should have won to begin with but, the way they came back and won is remarkable.
Crazy way to win but a win is important. This was not a game that should have been close. Hopefully they werent already thinking about Syracuse.
Good luck to the women this evening as they play Syracuse. This likely will be their toughest game of the season
The Dragons really hung in there against the now 10-0 Orange but fell by 10. They led by 8 at halftime, led by their secret weapon, Marecic, who nailed 5 3 pointers in the first half. Megan unfortunately couldn't keep that streak going in the 2nd half. Ironically, Drexel led by about 5 with 2 and a half to go, which was the same deficit they had when the beat Syracuse at the DAC last year. But unlike last year when Drexel had that furious late comeback, it was Syracuse who took control of the final 2 minutes to seal the win.

Drexel was the best team the Syracuse has faced this year, based purely on RPI, even though they did beat 3 teams from the Big Ten or SEC so far.

Drexel gets a week off for finals and come back next week with a big test against the Hawks on Hawk Hill. SJU is a Jekyll and Hyde team thus far. They stared 5-0, including beating JMU, but then lost their next 3 and just lost to Towson.
It was missed but Drexel bounced back after a tough loss to Syracuse to win at St Joes. It is a quality win for this team. They play tomorrow night against Cornell in what should be a pretty easy home victory.

I did not see that. Thanks. Not sure why there would be afternoon games on random Thursdays. Oh well. I am sure we will have our crowd of 150 there.
