I don't think he wins the award, it's pretty P5-oriented. But the nomination puts him in some outstanding company.

Don't think he wins it either, but he certainly earned the nomination. Would think it might earn him some phone calls from bigger programs really struggling on defense as well.

Hopefully his relationship with Creighton is enough to keep him around a couple more years to really make a run at the MAC West. Certainly won't be the money, or our ability to give him a big pay raise that'll keep him around.

Glad he's on our team.
After the next two games, we may have the top statistical Defense in the conference. If Creighton enjoys his lucrative $450k annual salary, he should take $150k and give it to his DC. Neathery was a very big reason why we win 3 games and hopefully 5 by seasons end.

In fact, if I'm AD I might start setting up Neathery to be the next head coach at EMU! Anytime an EMU Football coach does what he has done better get your attention. He's the kind of guy that you need to find a way to retain when you have him. Scott Wetherbee, are you reading this????
Neathery's Defense getting recognition from CBSSN during game. Got to keep him!!
FWIW, Kalen DeBoer is OC for #25 Fresno State in today's MWC championship game.

MAC football history is full of coaches (or assistant coaches) who didn't show brillance until they left the MAC for greener pastures.

Fans really forget that players play the game. Not the coaches.

The big thing, for me, is that coaches don't have stats like say basketball players, don't have times in the 40 yard dash, etc. etc. It seems much more difficult to evaluate coaches (especially assistant coaches) than players.
