Uncharacteristic Chattanooga team. In fact, the SoCon looks a bit uncharacteristic. The privates seem to have emerged as the football schools. What about recruiting in the SoCon? Are the privates more attractive to FCS players these days? The old school of thought would probably see UTC, ETSU, and Western, not necessarily in that order, in the top of this league after the departure of App State and Ga Southern. What is the story line now on SoCon football recruiting? And, specifically— it sure looks to me like ETSU MUST improve in the recruiting department in order to turn things in a better direction, which is probably an obvious observation or not?
Lots of player pass tickets being used....looks like we will have a nice crowd of ETSU BUC fans at Chat on Saturday!

I respectfully disagree with this. If anything, it was Russ Huesman's tenure that was uncharacteristic of Chattanooga football. Remember, this program went more than 30 years between playoff appearances and had one winning season from 1997 to 2008. When Huesman got there, they were shockingly bad. Now they are simply reverting to type with Huesman and staff off to Richmond.

I have every belief we can go down there and beat this team. If Jacksonville State can beat them with a lousy quarterback and questionable O-line, we can beat them with a very good quarterback and no O-line.
Sacks are a combination of QB holding the ball and the O-Line not holding blocks, and WR getting open. There is also some culpability on the play calls. Lets hope we pass to set up the run this week. Give the O-line some easy wins early with a short passing game. Go Bucs!
Drive 1: defensive offside to make it 1st and 5. Run for gain of 1. Run for no gain. Complete pass for first down. Run for gain of 2. Run for gain of 0. Incomplete pass. End of drive. Same thing every single game.
Fantastic kick by JJ! Offense has to start getting first downs though.
Why even attempt to run the ball? This play calling makes me glad the season is ending
Terrible officials so far in this game. Austin has a blatant facemask uncalled as his head bounces off the turf. ETSU DB grabs UTC receiver just before ball arrives no interference. UTC DB grabs Spagnoletti 3 times before Anthony finally pushes back, and they call offensive pass interference.
1. Huge crowd.
2. I thought the pass interference call was correct, but the replay didn't show it clearly enough to say for sure.
3. As of now, near halftime, ETSU has 17 total yards, against 2-8 UTC.
17 yards of offense...

Defense has gave us a chance. Hopefully offense can turn it around.
Classic case of a resistible 'force' vs. a moveable object.
It’s so infuriating to have 2nd and 9 EVERY DRIVE.

Every run at this point is a wasted play.
Penalties are keeping ETSU in the game (as if....):

ETSU total yardage: 32
UTC total yards penalized: 35
(and that may not include that blocking-in-the-back penalty that just cost UTC about 25-30 yds.)
We have a passing game, don’t we?

Sure. 6/17 for 31 yds.
This offensive line is brutal
I seem to recall when we could move the ball passing. I guess I’m not an OC, though.
Pathetic performance
