We get two home games, Thursday and Saturday, as part of the early season tourney.

The third and fourth games are road games @ Indiana and @So Florida.
Got the Howard@IU game on BTN.

Howard uses a zone...
Also watching Howard vs. Indiana. It's tight with 8:00 left in the 1st half.

As both an EMU and IU alum, nothing would make me happier than Eastern leaving Bloomington with a W.

do you have any affinity towards IU sports? i got a master's at Michigan and i thought they were even more annoying after going to school there. i expected the opposite.
BTW, Howard got tagged for a T for something I can't remember seeing before:

They played a player (#22) who was not on the roster. An IU coach caught it and brought it to the ref's attention...
Planning on seeing both of these games personally. It takes time for the players to get used to the 2-3 zone and play in properly. Watch and lets see if the defense tightens up once non conference play ends.

Howard should be crazy. Howard plays a zone so our players will get a 'taste of their own medicine.'

One thing about these NAIA teams: They aren't going to beat teams like EMU playing an inside guide. They will never have the athletes like JT4, Minnie, Bond, etc.

Their best hope is to load up with 3-point shooters and hope they get hot and make an interesting game of it.

Our style is the opposite. We don't recruit players who are stand still shooters, per se. We want long, lean, athletic players who can swarm and run the court.

NAIA teams get a lot of treys. We play them and get a lot of transition, fast break points, and d*unks.

Got my Master's at Indiana as well. I don't have any real affinty to Indiana Athletics. If I catch an IU game while flipping channels I'll casually root for them, but that's about it. I couldn't tell you what their football record is right now.

Speaking of football, I found that even at a B1G school, kids often cheer for whoever they were fans for beofre starting college. Many think we're the only school who suffers from students being fans of other schools, but in Bloomington there are FAR more Notre Dame football fans than IU football fans. And you can see it on the apparel they wear to class and which game they talk about on Monday morning. I actually found literal ticket stubs to a Notre Dame football game sitting around on IU's campus once, and realized I had never even seen a printed IU football ticket.

...Of course, once basketball season starts, all of their fandoms revert back to IU. Student season ticket cost: Football=$70, Basketball=$270 for only 6 games of the school's choosing.
It's going to be high school night (free admission for h.s. students/staff) Thursday night at the Convo.

Would be nice if many students from the area come out to watch Groce, Nobles, Ellison, McAdoo.

Fill up the car, SUV, etc. and come on down...

I think this is a good idea. Invite every high school basketball team within 20 miles. Get them used to coming to the Convo for a game.
Some notable names on the Arkansas State roster for the guys that follow recruiting on here...

We offered a couple of their JUCO transfer PGs, Ty Cockfield and Rashad Lindsey, last year and the year before, respectively. Cockfield seems to be off to a good start, averaging 20 ppg through 2 games. Lindsey is off to a slower start this year, but put up a respectable stat line last season.

The Wolves have taken only 33 threes so far through 2 games (making 12), which isn't very many for today's style of play. By comparison, we've had 29 attempts in 2 games from just Minnie, Harris, and Groce. Hopefully we tighten up our zone and force them to take the shots they aren't comfortable with.

That is a releaf. Hopefully holds true in our game with them.

I am really, really hoping for a couple wins out of these next 2 home games. The OOC there after has 6 of 9 road games against teams ranging from decent mid-major programs to premier programs.

That is a fascinating perspective. Thanks for sharing.

I graduated from Ypsi Lincoln High School; I will be in the house to support Ty Groce. I've mentioned it to some other Lincoln folks. My sister teaches at Canton and may come out to support Jordan Nobles.

I enjoyed the loud, spirited crowd at the Spring Arbor game, with all of those enthusiastic students. The Convo Center could be a really fun place with good sized crowds on a regular basis. The High School Night is a good idea.

Looks like athletics marketing is getting creative. Theta Chi fraternity was invited to attend practice and take pics with players after. I like outside the box thinking.

No doubt. let's have the fraternities tomorrow. Anyone from Ypsilanti Lincoln or wearing a Ty (or tie 03-lmfao) gets in free.

Bring in the athletes. Try to get 50 - 75 athletes to each attend a game or two (multiple that by the number of athletes in the program).

We need at least a few hundred students per game.

And let's hope we get say a hundred or two hundred high school students/staff tomorrow, too with that promotion.
