10:30 a.m. game. Hate to think of when all the alarms are going off.

Of course, the players from Spring Arbor have an hour drive to get to Ypsi. They are going to be warming up the bus early for the ride east on 94 to the Convo.

This isn't like a D-I game where the opponent, say Vermont, came to town the day before, had shoot arounds, etc.

As far as the game, we'll be talented but rusty; they should not be rusty but less talented.

We should see all of the players who aren't going to redshirt. I think the roster is 16, 13 scholarship + 3 walk-ons (including Jalen Brown). Murphy will need to decide who and how many to redshirt. Almost always redshirts are freshmen so one can look through that list and see who is at a deep position, needs a collegiate body, etc.

Here is the roster. It should be pretty easy this year: Your starters are #1 Bond (SF), #2 JT4 ( C ), #3 Jackson (PG), #4 Harris (SG) and #5 Minnie (PF).

Freep writer predicts Thompson to be MAC POY, predicts WMU to win MAC title.

Nothing wrong being 50% right* in the business of sports prognostications (could have been 100% wrong 03-lmfao).

* I'm going to use an asterisk as the prediction is from the MAC writers (who know less about EMU MBB than folks on this board).
BTW, it looks like ESPN3 but no WEMU.

Ryan has the PxP and Chad the color, I think.
Sloppy start, to say the least. It's like they're playing at 10:30 AM or something.
Minnie will be a matchup nightmare for opponents. What a quick first step. Seems like a guy who should draw contact and get to the FT line a lot.

i like hearing Chad Bush compare him to Karrington Ward.
Not impressed with how we look defensively. Way too leaky on the wings. Hoping it's just underestimating the opponent, but not very disciplined at all.

#MinnieTime

He will be a really good one.

Seems more aggressive off of the dribble than Ward. I wish Karrington would've attacked the basket more when he was here. Such a great athlete that took too many jumpers. Minnie looks like he can score in a multitude of ways, but less athletic. They definitely seem to have the same composure defensively.
Every game should be Education Day. Nice to see a big crowd.
This team will be super fun to watch in transition. Everyone that has played so far can run. Groce has had a couple nice moments.
But yeah, Minnie is a stud. What a pass out of the post to Harris for that 3.
Groce looks comfortable out there so far. i like what we've seen from him.
We got stupid at the end of the half, after being well on our way to a blow out. Should probably be up by 20-25 instead of 15, but some dumb turnovers and lazy defense keeps them down 15.

Some impressive confidence from Kevin McAdoo, who is super quick with the ball. Jackson was playing well until two Ty Toney-esque drives to nowhere that led to turnovers.

Minnie is the real story though. He seems to do literally everything well. Could have a nice two-man game with him at the top of the key with Thompson down low. He's a willing passer.
Of the 13 scholarship players, we haven't seen Silver, King and Jones. Correct?

Plus the three walk-ons.

I can't imagine us redshirting both big freshmen, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them play in the 2nd half. Guessing it's Jones, so King and Silver could be redshirt candidates.

agree. Steve was onto something with Minnie. i've very excited about him.

not sure what we have yet in Jackson and Harris. playing against a zone takes the ball out of a pg's hands more than man-to-man, so this game probably won't give us a good idea of what Jackson can do.

i love what Groce is doing out there. he has potential to be like Bond in terms of disrupting things on defense and being a guy who instigates offense.

Correct. Murphy loves to redshirt freshman, so i would expect at least one of them to sit all year. maybe two.
i'd like to see us spend less time forcing the ball to Thompson down low. it's a great idea to give your best player the ball, but SA is packing the paint. Groce had the right idea somewhere around the 10 minute mark when he flashed to the free throw line and made the quick touch lob over the guy who was fronting Thompson. that was how you get the ball to the big guy when the paint is full of defenders. to Thompson's credit, after the first two minutes he's done a great job of passing out of the double teams.
