If it wasn't for Jay "Daddy Ball" Hopson USM would be 2-0 vs the SEC and still in the hunt for winning a CUSA championship. Jay Hopson is a joke for continuing to play Keon Howard over Kwadra Griggs...unreal.
I'll see you and raise you Charlotte's
Hopson has us where he wants us. He's not about winning.
As I've said previously. Lane Kiffin is not a great coach. Not even a good one. Maybe average to slightly above average. Just goes to show everyone else in this league has an average head coach or below.

Your coach beat UAB. Our's didn't.

So, how can you explain the total turnaround by the Owls with the same personnel? The assistants?

I think you need to read it again. The answer is there. Kiffin is exposing how bad the rest of our coaches are. Though I still believe the MT game could have been different had we been even at 80%. Unfortunately, we will never know.

But last year it was a different FAU coach against the same conference...

You, Sir, are correct! Rep pts awarded!
I have to agree. Griggs is the better QB. Don't know why he isn't starting. Is he still injured?
Your USM staff beat our UTSA staff in a home game earlier this year we had two weeks to prepare for. I believe UTSA has a better team this year than last season, but we're not showing it. Our five wins have come against 4 FBS teams who are an aggregate 4-32, and an FCS team. We have yet to beat a decent team this season, as we lost all three of those games by 2, 3, and 7 points.

We're underperforming, and now have 6-3 UAB and Marshall remaining, and LA Tech who have our number, and we're still not bowl-eligible. Coach Wilson said the overriding theme for this season was "Finish". We've done anything but that so far, as we've typically played better in the first halves of games, and worse in the second halves.
At least you have a coaching staff. I would gladly trade what’s left of ours for yours.

I feel bad for you guys. This is your centennial season, and you're 0-9 and looking for a coach. Gotta give your fans props for still coming out and supporting the team despite the frustrations. And btw, aside from one guy in the stands on my first trip to El Paso a few years ago, your fans are a friendly lot. Enjoyed all three of my trips up there so far.
They can fire Hopson or go bankrupt.
They will probably choose bankruptcy.
Let me present 13-31 against teams with a winning record over the last 8 years. That automatically throws our hat in the ring for worst coaching staff.

Many of the teams you beat during that period had 'winning records' when you faced them but finished at .500 or below in no small part because of the loss to Marshall.
LOL. Griggs did well for one series. They would have adjusted eventually. Hindsight being 20/20, he probably should have started the 3rd quarter.

I'm starting to think we should alternate them. I'm not sure why MR is even dressed-out anymore. Seems like they could ready a walk-on to preserve that shirt. Who's running the scout team?

Anyway, MR is going to take the job come Spring, just watch, unless we sign a JC kid here quick, like next month is that new signing day, right?
