Didn't draw flies & would have a hard time drawing flies with the proposed match up listed.

SMU is in Dallas.....It will draw pretty well.
Frisco Bowl is the first year, not sure what bowl you are talking about with Troy. Frisco Bowl is replacing The Miami Beach Bowl..
They played in some bowl out in California, may have been Fresno instead.
Most "minor" bowls that pay out 6 figure amounts, don't depend upon a team's fan following for their main income. They get their main income money from TV and local Chamber of Commerce types that support advertising the city. They will try to get such fan based patronage if they can, but it is considered the "whipped cream & cherry" on the main dessert offering. There are just too many minor bowl games in too many distant places to count upon fan travel support in major numbers.
yeah bamablazerfan is correct. also these small bowls we wont make a dime. in fact, we will probably lose money. however the publicity is worth something. However im not sure our Admin would be able to see that ha.

The South Alabama/Georgia State game that was a toss-up went to Georgia State...turning them from a Toss Up to an Unlikely.

Buffalo lost on the road to Akron and now have to beat the Ohio Bobcats (currently 6-2 and 2nd in their division), which turns them from a Toss Up to an Unlikely.

Purdue lost at home to Nebraska, and now have to beat either Northwestern or Iowa away to make the last home game against Indiana even matter. That turns them from a Toss Up to an Unlikely.

So 3 out of the 4 Toss-Ups turned out in UAB's favor.

How about another update?? Things are getting more interesting each week.
So it is worth it. Must be or they would not hold them.

Main value on a money-loss bowl is the extra practice time, imo. Hard not to see the value in that, especially in our program.

The payout of the bowl we go to doesn't matter as long as C-USA fills out their bowl commitments.

The money from all bowl payouts is pooled and distributed among the C-USA schools.
There a projection that 7 P5 slots won't be filled per Jox, keeping my fingers crossed. 8-9 regular season wins maybe the better bowl game especially with a Florida win over the belt late on national television.
There is one bowl game we would make money in....................
What if UAB goes to a bowl game that has a payout greater than our expenses?

Shouldn't the program get the money instead of Watts' university who hasn't done anything financially for the program?
We should be rooting for 9-10 CUSA teams to make a bowl. Need the extra revenue from the bowl pool.

As long as we stay within the 7 bowl tie-ins the conference has then I will be stoked. If the conference (and Brian Mackin) try to pawn us off to the Birmingham Bowl I will be pissed. Give that game to Middle Tenn St. if they only end up with 6 wins.
C-USA takes all bowl payouts, pays team expenses, then distributes and money left over. Bowl payout is irrelevant to an individual C-USA team.

So if we got sent to the Bahamas, UAB wouldn't lose any money because the conference office is picking up the tab? Ie; all bowl money goes to a pool and all team expenses are paid out of that one pool (even though whoever is sent to the Bahamas will have far greater expenses)?
So it isn't a shares deal where a portion is shared among the conference teams and the rest goes to the individual teams that make that bowl?

Yep. Each bowl team does get a slightly larger share of the pie than non-bowl teams, if there is any money left over after expenses.
