I was just curious and started looking up coaches' salaries in the SoCon to see how our investment in football compared to that of other similar schools. Some I could find and others I couldn't.
Torbush makes $240,000 total, including stipends and bonuses per his original contract. Huesman was making $230,000/year at Chattanooga before he left, and they offered him $325,000 to stay.
Others:(Remember these are total comp, not just base salary)
Citadel - $271,000
WCU - $211,358
Furman - ??
Mercer - ??
Wofford - ??
VMI - $135,000
Samford - ?? but prior coach was making a total of $460,000
Sounds like overall we are competitive, but might have some room to grow if we want to be a top FCS level program. Average of top 25 FCS program coaching salaries is between $240-260,000 from what I can tell.
