Considering many starters didn’t play in the 4th quarter, this may have been the Rockets’ most complete game this season.

I have been a critic of the O line so I want to give credit due—really good game for them. Hate to see anyone get injured, but injuries on the O line seem to have resulted in a better mix of players & better results.

I’ve also been concerned about the D, and was thinking that the weather helped them contain CMU, but today was a nice job by in particular the D-line and LBs.

We just have such a stable of RBs. Wouldn’t trade any of them.

These past couple games Woodside has shown some surprising wheels. In contrast, I was very surprised Akron didn’t run their QB more. Big guy who looked like he would have been tough to tackle, and running QBs have hurt us.

No e to see Jon Vea Johnson have a great game. Again, while I hate to see someone’s season come to an end due to injury, I think not having Cody Thompson has made the passing game a bit more open, and Woodside isn’t as predictable with his target. I do think we miss Cody’s ability to use his last 2-3 strides to get under where the ball actually ends up.

Penalties. Some of them again were just stupid. If this continues, it will be a shame when it costs us a game that ends up costing us a trip to the MAC championship.

Nice crowd—better than I thought we would have. More students would have been nice.

Don’t sleepwalk thru the Ball State game—take care of business there and the stretch run begins!
Rockets have put back-to-back excellent games together. It’s clear to me that this Thompson guy was holding us back! Seriously, he seemed pretty upbeat and animated on the sideline. Seems like everyone has stepped up some in his absence.
Yeah solid performance today all around. Short turnaround this week with game at Balls St so I hope we can control the game on the ground and sneak out of there with a win. Team is getting better each week. Just have to finish strong which has been our Achilles heel the past several seasons
Akron's QB is a little on the short side, overall the whole team looked a little smaller than our team.

Ball State got walloped by Central today, so I'm a little less concerned about the Muncie Curse. Bruce was mentioning Ball State during the broadcast and how good Toledo teams can go down there and lose, so we sure can't take them for granted.

NIU and Ohio also put up 48 today, so those are going to be two huge games.
On the multiple pass interference calls two were completely bogus, ref threw flag from behind and out of position. Two others were questionable. On one the reciever didn't know the ball was comming. On another the ball was way over thrown and uncatachable. On another 3rd and long we were right on it but you know our DB's were hesitant at that point and they got the 1st. Of their 21 points we gave them 14 by extending drives. The unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was just dumb. Seems like I can watch other college football and defenses can play aggressive, but not get victimized by the refs?

Overall it was a dominant victory and I like what I am seeing, especially the Defense.

To be fair to the refs, they were not at all one-sided. They did call a penalty against Akron, but we were able to offset it with one of our own. They may have had another that we declined, but can't really remember that happening.

Why is it again this year, as it was last year, we have more penalties called on his than our opponents have called on them - in our stadium. I do believe the MAC refs see the stats on penalties and go into games expecting us to have a lot of penalties, so they call anything close against us. It's that thing where they know the opposing coach will read them the riot act of they don't get a lot of calls - and I'm sure they are on them early and also mention it before the coin toss that we are the most penalized team in the conference - in case they were not aware of it.

At least it wasn't 8 holding penalties like usual. The leg whip one was new and the intelligible man downfield. If it wasn't for the 4-5 pass interference calls, I can live with the rest off them. Except that unnessary roughness call that extended that drive.

I really don't think it's the refs. It's UT continually making dumb plays. I'd guess 80% of the penalties called on UT this year have been blatantly obvious. Maybe 10% borderline and 10% bad calls.

One pass interference everyone was booing I called before the refs. DB hooked receiver around the waist for two strides before ball arrived. No point. Just dumb penalties. A game will come when we won't get away with that.
