Turmoil throughout the country... 5-1 with a loss to a solid team. Give us a break.
A nice as it would look, it wouldn't be credible. Our wins were against terrible teams and we're not in one of those "special" conferences.

Normally, I'd but us in the middle of the B10, but the team is so beat up. They've responded well to that but against a team of depth, I wouldn't hold out for anything less than being badly beaten.

A very interesting team. If O-line comes together and penalities consistently down, it will be a very different team than what played Tulsa.

Would LOVE a bowl against a middle of the pack P5, just to have a fair shot of seeing where they are.
Ten or so years ago we had the credibility of getting votes and under the right circumstances being in the Top25 with a 5-1 record. I think we played like a team that deserves votes on Saturday. Just keep winning and playing well and the rest takes care of itself.
You don't get votes when your signature win is against Eastern Michigan.
Only one Top 25 team has more than one loss, I believe. If we are 9-1 at some point we should be getting votes, maybe even be IN the Top25. Too early now.
It all comes down to depth. Those teams that have not lost key players so far - likely will at some point during the remainder of the season. Never thought I would say I am concerned with our passing game this year - and not because Woodside was injured. I do like what I have seen so far with a couple of freshman on this team. I am not liking what I see from our other starters at receiver without Thompson out there. These first year players will have a full season under their belt by the time we get to WMU and NIU. We need to keep using them over the next couple of weeks against Akron and Ball State - and trying to get both of the Johnsons and that hyphen name guy to step up to the next level.

And Kentucky's signature win is...

The same, but Kentucky is in the SEC.

Yeah but we don't call that OUR signiture win, so standards...

Our signature win was the first half of the Miami game.

Unfortunately we won't get votes for winning one half of one game against a quality opponent.

I would think it would, if the other wins on our schedule were having quality seasons also. That half and the offensive effort would be respected by the voters, at least those local enough to have UT in their focus.
Doesn't matter...just keep playing one game at a time. If we keep winning, we will get to the MACC game. If we don't keep winning, the votes\ranking will be taken away anyhow. I would rather be ranked or getting votes just after or just before the MACC game as opposed to now. Just win baby!
Miami. #8 AP
Finish 11-1 and win the MAC championship. Then worry about being ranked...
No votes in either poll.

UT #39 in the composite computer rankings, although I don't think all the models are rolled in yet for this week.
This is the time of the season when overrated power 5 schools fall into the "receiving votes" category. If you're a non-power 5 school and you weren't already there, you're not getting there until the end of the season. At this point I could care less about polls. I want wins over Northern, Western and a MAC Title.

Agreed.
Don't care about the votes of pinhead sportswriters and coaches interns. I care about championships.
