I can almost guarantee a 5-4 Appy. State team would kick our ass.
This performance with the season on the line is the most embarrassing moment of me being a fan of ODU football. The announcers are questioning every play call and the product on the field looks pathetic. With 3:00 left in the 3rd we are 2-12 on 3rd down. Defense is absolute garbage, Nagy constantly this year has not had the players in the correct schemes and coverages. And the players cant tackle to save their lives. Every week Bobby preaches going over the fundamentals, but we are terrible at fundamentals! Nagy needs to be fired right after the game is over. Bobby needs to make changes to better the program, instead he will just sugar coat this loss and it will be more of the same next year. He is to scared to make the right move and it is so disheartening as a fan.
Hell, fire everybody. After their buyouts we should have $8.67 (plus couch change) for a new staff. Can we get Urban Meyer for 2/3 that?

My question is who's out there that a) would be an obvious improvement and b) would be willing to work for whatever ODU can pay?
I'm not against significant coaching changes; hell, throw 'em all out — so long as there's suitable replacements. Do you take a chance on a coach who got fired from a major program and is getting his salary paid for the next years? Are there good FCS coaches that would take ODU instead of waiting for a more prominent program? Anyone with ties to the region that might give ODU a hometown edge/discount?

Sure I want better. I want to be able to compete with, and occasionally beat P5 and good G5 teams. I want consistent bowl appearances and victories.
Can Wilder and company get us there? I don't know, but they've earned enough capital to find out.
Now if they miss postseason for, say, 5 straight seasons, then we can discuss this.

Don't know if he can get us there either, but coaching does seem to make a difference. UAB goes 8-4 this year after two dormant seasons. NTSU and FAU made complete turnarounds this season.
The "5 year" thing was a tweak. With an experienced Williams and a healthy Cox and Duhart, I expect to go bowling next year.

Not great, but how many teams with winning records do we play every year?
Last year we were 7-1 in conference play with a giant egg laid at WKU (which is the kind of performance that I want to see become a rarity).

I would agree up to a point....Last years 10-3 season was a joke. We beat no one that was decent. In our 3 losses....we got our butts handed to us. This year we had 1 decent win against FIU. The rest of the wins were against horrible teams. In our losses we weren't even competitive ! So we have been banished to the pit of misery for the next 9 months vs Dilly Dilly !!
Should be able to hide entire threads.
