The conference gets millions to play games on weeknights, and NIU always gets the most weeknight games, doing the most damage to their ticket sales. Meanwhile the EMUs and Kents collect the same checks but don't make the same sacrifice, playing more on Saturdays. I don't think the exposure is worth it for the conference and NIU more than any other.

It's not about "exposure". It's about ratings and money. NIU has and will continue to draw a larger TV audience than EMU, Kent State, or anyone else in the MAC. We make more money being on TV than we do if we sell out.

If that's even true, it's only true in the short run. I think it mortgages the future.

What about eventually a mini replica of the Diesel sculpture that will be installed on October 26? Diesel fans would break down doors for these! They could be sold rather than a give-away. Renee could create replicas in bronze to be sold at a premium. Sell them at the games to bring in the fans. Advertise them and induce the newspapers to write about them. At the very least, this would be another vehicle to get NIU's name out there. This is called marketing. It would also show that NIU values and promotes traditions. Believe it or not, marketing CAN be done!

Fans like myself who rarely goto games, but follow almost every game are arguably the majority of NIU FB fans.
Fans like myself get enjoyment from seeing NIU win games.
We prefer the convenience of home, and in my case would rather pay a premium for good NIU TV coverage then travel, park and buy a ticket.
Revenues from TV in many programs are very significant.
Why can NIU not move towards giving our alumni fan base a high quality dependable TV alternative, with archives and expert local analyses for a fee.
I would even listen to the regular irritating TCF bank commercials.

Don't believe these proposals truly take into account costs, economy and reality.
IF FB portals where fans pay to access high quality streaming and allow for interactive feedback is the future," then tell me where to access this for Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio State, USC, etc. IF this stuff is down the road for those programs, it's a continental trip for NIU.

"Fans" like you "who rarely go to games, but follow almost? every game are arguably the majority of NIU FB fans."
NO, this is simply not true and there is no data to back up such a claim.

Revenues from TV in many programs are very significant. This may be true for P5 programs, but this isn't reality even for the G5s.

Because this costs millions. Do you read the threads where posters on here complain about the quality of games on ESPN3. Exactly how many high-profile announcers like a Tim Brando are available and how much do you think they would need to be paid. Have you ever been inside a production truck -- the kind assigned to our games -- and have any understanding of what those cost as well as the cameras and personnel to execute a broadcast?

The best fans support their teams in person whenever possible, those fans add revenue through concessions, apparel, and donations. Ask not what your Huskies can do for you, ask what you can do for your Huskies.
Stadium expansion helps on many levels.

• Premium Supporters will pay more for new Premium Seating = increase in revenue using the same level of fan base.
• Chicago events are stop game measure until our stadium is ready to schedule home game against larger opponents. This will greatly impact revenue eliminating the need to rent facilities and give up concessions. Large school with traveling fan bases increase our attendance levels and home revenue.
• Facilities are a big draw for recruitment.
• If the program continues have success, having appropriate facilities is a must to move to a higher revenue conference.

How about a Joe Novak Day, with the first 15,000 fans in the stadium getting a Joe Novak bobblehead? These give-aways could be paid for by sponsors with free advertising on the item. What about a Bill Baker Appreciation Day with a give-away statue of Bill with some of his calls played back at the push of a button (like "Goodbye, Toledo!"). NIU has a decent marketing department that should be used.

Both of those ideas are winners, I would drive from Ohio to DeKalb to attend both events that you have described (as long as they were not weekday evening games late in the season).

Or sell the rights to VCB and see if they'll have them made and sell them.
