If any of you have seconded guessed our run offense against MSU, I think everything was answered last night. Harbaugh's bread and butter is based on running the ball. USC doesn't have near the run defense of MSU. If MSU is going to get beat, it's not running the ball -- it's by passing it.

Wassink will get there -- he simply need more time under Lester.
We never seem to catch State at the right time, especially given last year's circumstances.

Another crack at Sparty in a bowl game would be much different.

Playing MSU the week after a close, emotional, loss on the west coast that was played in 100 degree temperatures clearly worked to Sparty's advantage. WMU was drained. Kathy B never should have agreed to move the game up a week, per MSU's request (demand?). Also, the fact WMU did not attack MSU with short passes to RB's in the flat, or the tight end, to expose their weak LB's (Frey in particular) contributed (note that ND did that repeatedly, with much success, against MSU).

Bottom-line is MSU was/is beatable. WMU only lost by two scores and was in position to win in the 4th Q. It was no blow-out.

It was good to see MSU poke a hole in U-M's hype balloon. But I would have enjoyed seeing it the other way around, too. Unfortunately, one of the phony bastards has to win that game.

Agreed. If we show up and perform better on third down, we likely would have come out on top.
