EMU's Defense played a very good game. Special teams was not good. Not really impressed with the OL Play calling at times was puzzling. 34 of UK's player were from Ohio. Most of any State. The Eagles could have won this one. Missed opportunity.
I would not sleep in EMU this year. They are not the eagles of the past. Watched most of that game. Not impressed with UK, but EMU didn't lay down.

I only saw pieces of the game, but to say their special teams were not good is a huge understatement. I saw a fumbled punt return, a blocked punt, another punt that went only 18 yards, and a missed PAT. Special teams absolutely cost them the game.

Eastern's D is solid, as advertised. Their offense, not so much. The EMU Oline was completely dominated from what I saw. There were stretches where it seemed that ever pass play one or both of UK's DE's were in the backfield pressuring Roback almost before the OTs were out of their stances. That was partly due to EMU's complete inability to run the football - 13 yards rushing for the game.

So, it will be strength against strength next week. EMU's D is good, but I don't think they can contain Woodside & Co. D needs to get edge pressure of Roback and just contain the run.

Roback is a better QB when he plays under control.

Our db's are doing better than I expected but I'm not sure we can pressure Roback as well as UK did. I have a feeling he will look better this week.
Sounds like special teams could be our edge.
So Toledo wins next week 38-31
The road to the MACC game has never been easy for the Rockets and this year appears to be no exception. Toledo may have the top offence in the West but Eastern, Northern and Western all arguably have better defenses and isn't defenses what are suppose to win championships? There have been "better" Rocket teams than this that have failed to make it and there have been other Rocket teams that were the pre-season picks that fell short as well, so if this does turn out to be the year they finally make it back to Ford Field it will be quite an accomplishment, indeed.
