Maybe this thing will help us nab Surtain Jr. These coaches, boosters and apparel companies will be thinking twice before handing out all this money. Will at least help level the playing field for a little while with recruiting across the board. These kids will still go to these Sec schools, but not bc they were given $50k. So gives us a better shot at them. Heck, maybe we pick up a 4 star guy or few extra 3 star guys now.

That's the easy part. The players are now employees who pay taxes and are fired for poor performance (or off campus idiocy). It's just like running a business.
They could be using this scandal to thin the herd (which would be hilarious if you consider how this all started).

Also, as these are state-run institutions, would the players be state employees with applicable benefits and leaving with 3-4 years towards a retirement package, or is each player an independent contractor in need of an agent taking 20%? Obviously, the salaries would have to be covered by the athletic departments themselves plus boosters because no state government is going to take on the additional payroll.
And how on earth does State U. explain to Uncle Sam how it’s paying football and basketball players 6 figures in addition to scholarships and everybody on its women’s golf team gets less that 1/4 of that in total benefits?
There are a hundred reasons why there can’t be a hybrid college/pro system. The corner that gets painted into is ultimately to just incorporate Florida State Football & Basketball, LLC, and disassociate it from the school completely except for leasing the facilities—for the same dollar amount the university has become accustomed to those sports generating, of course. Oh, but wait. Can the company afford that now that it’s 100% responsible for payroll and paying taxes on every dollar that comes in? Hmmm.
Has anyone thought of the longterm results of these dealings. How is the NCAA going to go forward? How is the NCAA going to put on a basketball tournament? What if (and it looks like they are) the NCAA comes under investigation themselves? Who's going to tell any of the big boys "you can't go to a bowl game"?
What's the NCAA going to do. If they punished all involved, the P5 would just leave and do their own thing, because a mass ban wave isn't going to work. They have no authority at all and I'm shocked we don't just play the same game.

Exactly my point. Only teams held to standards are the G5. P5 makes the rules, looks good on paper, and a 'few' get caught. Price of doing business. P5 has it made in the NCAA, it's their cover operation. Today's problem isn't the NCAA but FBI. I for one can only 'hope' the FBI takes down a few. I fear please politics will come into play

Unfortunately you're are spot on. Penaltys handed out today hurt G5 far more than P5 and that's by design. G5 presidents are caving out of fear. Need to grab their nut sack and say no more. Splitting from NCAA for most, not all, have far greater consequences.

Yea, well, whenever I hit a golf ball it's as crocked as the P5. 
Had invite to go golfing with big group tomorrow but game got in the way. Windows are safe another day.
you can always turn 90 degrees and face east on #5 at hcc and take out ray perkins for shites and giggies with a built in excuse
