And I, an actual ODU fan, will be wearing light blue.
Doesn't FAU have navy as one of their primary colors? And isn't that why home crowds change it up occasionally?

That should only be a concern if you expect a big visiting crowd. How many FAU fans do you expect at FF? 100?

It's an appalling color. But I own a shirt of that species, which would never otherwise get worn but for these command performances.

Light blue it is!
Light blue is my favorite ODU shirt. Rocking it.
Glad that light blue is in the mix but just thankful they didn't do it for the UNC game.

I remember a few years ago I watched UVA take on Syracuse at home. The entire student section (which gets on tv the most due to most of them sitting along the sideline) was wearing orange. What color was Syracuse wearing? You guessed it, orange. I thought it was a pretty bad mistake on the students part to plan an Orange-out for the Syracuse Orange

That's pretty bad. To be fair, we have been directed to wear dark blue against Rice. Guess what their main color is?
I have a light blue T shirt and a light blue sweatshirt from my time at ODU.

However, for some reason, just sitting in a box in the attic for decades caused them to shrink substantially.

I think way too much is made of these things. There is no mistake as to who the students were rooting for. The game was at UVA and orange is one of their colors. I don't think the choice to wear orange confused anyone or made anyone think, "gee I wonder if the UVA students are secretly rooting for Syracuse?"
It might be a bit much but there is nothing wrong with using school spirit to change things up in the interest of making it fun. I think watching schools doing different colors with their fan bases happens to be pretty cool.

I agree. I just wish it wasn't an every game thing for us. Just my opinion, I think it would be pretty cool to see the stadium speckled with color. We have plenty of options - white, dark blue, light blue, black, shirtless, silver/gray.

Maybe we just need to start a campaign called Speckle the Stadium
The Wal Mart on Tidewater Drive had a plethora of ODU shirts just a few weeks ago. Including some light blue shirts if I remember correctly. Now they've pulled most of it except for a few on the discount rack and replaced with winter clothes. Maybe I'll just go with light blue body paint.

UCF is doing that for the ECU game. [Image: Game3_ECU.jpg]
I have my doubts that this type of method for picking a color for a game will work. Far too many fans just don't pay any attention to social media or other methods of disseminating the information. If it is not chosen in advance and printed on the tickets, it probably will fail. Hell, even the "stripe the stadium" effort failed and that was done in advance. Also, light blue is probably the least likely color of ODU gear that the average fan owns. I have a dozen or more ODU shirts, and only one that is light blue...
Carry on.

Ha! Love this idea too. Unfortunately we're already doing that one pretty well but it would be fun to run with the campaign anyway!

I wouldn't say they "pulled it". I say they sold it. You will find that ODU stuff sells pretty well and pretty quickly when it is put out. Often times you will find VT and UVA merchandise remaining from the same buy and the ODU stuff is what sold out - as it should locally.
With the temps approaching mid 80s on Saturday afternoon many people will be glad dark blue didn't win.
