This clearly will be an uphill battle of epic proportions for the Monarchs, and the injury list for ODU just keeps growing. Right now, we have the following seven starters out of the game.

WR Jonathon DuHart - out for the season with a broken foot
RB Ray Lawry - out for the season with a torn hamstring
TE Melvin Vaughn - strained knee
RT Hendricks - strained knee
DE Appough - finger
DE Rotimi - strained knee
S Rob Thompson - groin (possible)

Added to the injury woes, freshman QB Steven Williams will be getting his first start after having his redshirt pulled off just before halftime last week against UNC. Coach Bobby Wilder has declared the QB competition over, and Williams is the man this year.

So, as much as I want to be optimistic about this game, right now the point spread looks pretty accurate with ODU a four TD dog.
I'm as big of a homer as it gets and I agree. This could be ugly.

Still looking forward to spending the day in Blacksburg. I'm gonna get drunk.
Guys, it's not like UVA is Clemson. You will have a shot. Good luck!

Title is wrong, should be ODU at Virginia Tech.

Oops. I missed that too.

This one will be a huge task to undertake!
VT can likely beat us by as much as they want to. I wouldn't bet on this game. 28 points is a lot and weird things happen in blowouts. VT could be up 35, put in their fourth string late to see how they do, ODU manages to score, does a 2pt conversion and just like that you lose your money.

DE Appough - finger? He isn't playing?
It probably wont be pretty. But I'm going to soak it all in. Tailgating in Blacksburg with friends and family from both sides of the coin should make for a fun day. Hope to see a lot of true blue for ODU in the crowd.

That is correct. He is not playing. Expected to be out for a couple of weeks and hopefully back for FAU after our bye week.

Wouldn't you think a DE could play with a hurt finger?

If it were a conference game, he probably would.

As it is, it's probably better to get him and the others healthy for FAU.

Conference games are more important than preseason games. 05-stirthepot

Yep, especially when the players presence isn't likely to affect the outcome.

Totally agree. Only problem is, this butt whoopin will get huge press in the state and we're trying to build a reputation here.
Doesn't help that our coach is pretty much already admitting defeat. Can't imagine the players are going in there very confident.

Not to derail this thread but UVA is running over Boise State right now 21-7.

UVA 17 plays in Boise territory
Boise 2 plays in UVA territory
I was at the VT vs Delaware game. VT looked terrible, game was much closer than score showed. First half, VT couldn't move the ball on Delaware at all. However, I think their young QB is getting more comfortable, at least he looked so during the following ECU game.

Good luck ODU.

Josh Jackson is the real deal.
#13 Virginia Tech up 3-0 in the 2nd quarter. ODU stopped VT, 3 and out, with a chance to get a score on offense. Playing well!
I've got to say that I expected a blow-out. ODU is holding up better this time around. Now, ODU is not exactly stopping VT, but they are not falling apart defensively either.
