Full Version: If we win Saturday, is it our biggest win this decade?

I was thinking about it this morning, and I thought it would be the win we had against Marshall in 2012 because I remembered Alabama and Auburn both lost that day. I also thought I remembered them being ranked. Looked it up and they actually ended 5-7.

I know this is a bit of a crap post but I'm bored and really want some spicy stuff to read.

Well you could be on to something we havent' played Memphis in a while. or Tulane or Cincy or South Florida remember UAB and South Florida Started their programs equally the same year know their in the top25. Really our best win is when we beat Troy St. Opps their just Troy know. Or Southern. Just lucky where back on the field to discuss the question. Pacific has been sitting for a long time. (Hofstra was actually good and competitive at one time their no longer their). Sct Heart is pretty Strong. They Played South Florida Pretty Good.)
Well, there aren't a lot of options. Going into this season we had a grand total of 18 wins this decade...
I would say the 2011 So Miss game. Beat them when they were ranked.

And that reminds me- man, I forgot we've beaten them 4 of the last 5. After years and years of futility, it was so frustrating. When we finally beat them, damn that was good. Then went on to win 3 of the next 4. Put a beat down on them, in their house, in what we thought was our last game EVER. Just got that feeling again- it's nice to have football back...
That 2014 road win at Western Kentucky was pretty sweet. This one would be HUGE for obvious reasons though.

That is the win against a ranked team I was remembering! They were like 22nd or 24th, right? I listened to that on the radio, I would love to hear the last two minutes of that game again.
The last game we played in 2014, the annihilation of USM at The Rock to become bowl eligible, was our biggest win this decade, and still will be after Saturday, win or lose IMHO.
Easy answer. No.
2014 win over USM. Nothing else comes close. Reach bowl eligibility. Players felt theyd save the program with that win. Can't imagine the pressure they felt going into that night. As far as bigger win than that one, not until we reach bowl eligibility. For us, I think Wins vs top dog in conference or ranked opponents are meaningless without a winning record or a bowl game. That's my opinion.
UAB's biggest football win of this decade has not happened yet, and we have almost 3 seasons left to win it (2017, 18,19).

Possibilities -- First win over a nationally ranked P5 team, first bowl game win, first C-USA Championship win, first win to result in a Top 25 national ranking, others?

Biggest win this decade obviously occurred 6/2/2015

I think this Southern Miss game is it. Getting bowl eligible in 2014 certainly helped us get our program so quickly. We heard "bowl eligible for the first time in a decade" on several networks. If we went 5-7, I don't think we would have had as much support from non-fans. Even if we win 6 games this year, I'm not sure it would be bigger, unless that 6th win was to come against a ranked Florida team.
It has to be our first win against the mighty Sou Miss Golden Eagles. Plus, I was the honorary coach for that game and ,, well, what else can I say: I'll cherish that game ball forever!.
UTEP, ranked #24 nationally, lost to UAB by a score of 35-23 on November 19.2005
It will be our biggest win this week!

Not this month. The A&M game will forever be the biggest ever, because we played at all.
