Excellent! That is a start. By the way how is Coach Pera's health?

They're going to play on the women's team? Unconventional wisdom.

Right in line with if they wish to adopt the "I identify as a female Division 1 athlete" mindset. But as a smaller school noted for academics, Rice *should* be at the forefront of pushing that particular social envelope.

Don't know if there's still interest there, but his younger sister is evidently a very good prospect in the 2022 class (she somehow committed to Texas Tech when she was like 12, and just decommitted). I somehow stumbled into the unending maze that is Twitter and found that she recently started following the entire staff and a couple players. Again, I highly doubt any of this means anything, but still interesting nonetheless. The brother is a 6-5 G who can shoot.

*Note: the mere fact that recruiting is actively going on in the 2022 + 2023 classes weirds me out and makes me feel old.

Thanks!

Another one to watch is 2020 Kenzi Carter. She visited campus in 2016. Beyond that, recruiting information for women's basketball is pretty difficult to ascertain.

I posted in the men's recruiting threat, but the Wenzel family appears to be either taking official or unofficial visits.

So I guess that was the family Tina L was sitting with behind the bench at yesterday’s game.

42 in the country I think, too.
We will have the twin towers next year.

Hopefully it works out more similarly to the Spurs' version than the Rockets' version (RIP, Ralph Sampson's back).
I'm not sure of the dynamics of women's basketball as much as I am of men's, but I'd imagine somebody is going to transfer. WBB is allowed 15 scholarships, and we have 15 players who have legitimate arguments for playing time. If not, then great, but distributing 200 minutes amongst that roster is going to be challenging (which is a good problem to have, though).

Given the returning core (which includes everyone but Wendy Knight), I think we'll utilize the twin towers lineup on only very rare occassions.
Games like tonight's make it easier to decide things...
I saw Jasmine Smith at Kinkaid. A phenomenal player. I am afraid Tayler Bennett better improve her ball handling and shooting or she may get very limited playing time next year. The same is true for Gabby.

I'm not so sure that happens. It's not like men's basketball where all players seem to have hopes of a pro career, even when that doesn't seem super realistic in a lot of cases. We also will have 5 seniors next year so that's a pretty healthy class to fill to begin with. And some of the girls returning next year are coming off injuries so it's tough to know for sure if they will be full strength next season.

The other point is if we don't make the NCAA's this season, I would think most of the team would have that singular goal of making it to the NCAA tournament (and winning some games in the postseason). We'll also have plenty of blowouts (something common in women's basketball) so the playing time will be there at times.
