Quote:Tyson Summers is the unofficial CEO of a multi-million dollar company in Georgia Southern football. Its fans and donors are its shareholders. Under Willie Fritz after the Eagles went 17-7, 18-7 if you count the Go Daddy Bowl won by interim Dell McGee. That’s a .720 winning percentage. Tyson Summers is 5-9 with a .357 winning percentage through his first 14 games.

If Disney’s or Google’s revenue were cut in half over the course of 21 months, you better believe the CEO would be fired. But does that mean Georgia Southern will make a change? Let’s unpack this fiasco.
You cut the title short. It should read: When will Georgia Southern make a change.

The powers are not happy with him, unless there is a miraculous turn around, he won't be there for Christmas.
I wish our administration cared that much about losses.
There's also people out there that don't realize how buyouts work either.

We're only on the hook for 2 years plus whatever he has remaining in this year's contract, seeing as how he's already working in this year and has been paid a certain amount of it already.

And it's not a lump sum, he gets paid normally. If he finds other employment, we only have to pay out the difference of his income to the amount we guaranteed him. If he gets a job making more, then we don't have to pay anything.

Basically, whether you fire him this year or next, the difference is $300k in the long run (but not immediately out of pocket). Is it worth eroding season ticket sales and donations? Although I really dislike people removing their donations, if you want to prove your point then designate your donation to Summers' buyout and that's the ONLY way the money can be used. If they have a big pot of money sitting there unable to be used then they'll have very good evidence of what action to take.

It's why people think we're bipolar.

We know what good coaching looks like, and we know what bad coaching looks like. We've seen a lot of bad coaching between last year and this year.

Unless there's an extraordinary turnaround in the next few games then the writing is on the wall.
Yes, but not until after the season is over. It would be interesting if he got let go/demoted and Cook was interim HC. Couldn't hurt the on field play and we would still be looking for a replacement (hopefully one with HC experience)

Problem is we were never good and then bad. Just always bad or average.
Is GS willing to spend 900k to cut him loose and offer a new coach $$$?

Is GS willing to pay him his $300k/year salary for 2 more years minus what he makes at another job?

Yes. Definitely.

It's not a full $900K buyout, he has already received monies for his salary for roughly 9 months outta the year, so you have to take that into consideration too. Plus if another school picks him up as a position coach or possible DC, that would reduce GS's buyout too.
Why not say you forgot to sign his contract and ask him to sign a new shorter one?

That could work

Absolute gold right there.
Change is coming after this season, barring a big turnaround

Very well played sir!!! Kinda goes to show how big the entire clown show in Statesboro is, doesn't it?

To answer the OP's question, the day after the last game, and hopefully the AD follows him out of town.

I know that was meant to be a dig but every GS fan just said "good idea"

From our board it is not a 900K buy out he is just guaranteed to continue to get paid. It is already down to 700K. If he gets a new job then we just owe him the difference if there is any...we know there will be as he aint getting another HC job ever again.

Honestly knowing that I have no idea what we are waiting on? Maybe the AD needs just a little bit more ammo to make it look legit. If it does not happen after 7 losses then he is riding it out to the end of the season.

Sometimes its best just to wait until the end of the season to avoid any ill will from the coaching fraternity.

Did not hurt USM...Also going from a typical FCS salary to even a low paying FBS job is usually has an affect on folk's feelings and memories.
