29th ranked class in the country as of last check, which is pretty cool. Won't last for long, but we should end up top 70 which would be impressive.
"Trey" is a promising name for a shooting guard.

As is Chris Mullin(s).
Based on twitter activity, I'm going to guess that we're going to get a commitment from Quentin Millora-Brown at some point in the near future. 2018 6-9 forward. Offers from a bunch of smaller Patriot/Colonial schools. Went to the same HS as Ako.

Sophomore year highlights can be found here: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/1389620/5721...63802bfc37

I could be wrong of course. But considering he's recently been followed by everybody on the staff and our other 2018 recruits, I'd say there's a decent chance. He also visited this past weekend.

Seems like, yeah: https://twitter.com/iQBall2000/status/90...0632979459

He says he's 6'10 on his twitter account, nice to get some size

Good call. Looks like he committed today.

Looking through his junior year games when he was 6'7" 210 (appears he's grown 2-3" this year). Lots of rebounds and some blocks. Not a huge scoring presence but I don't really mind that for the style I think we will be playing. I'll try to watch some recruiting film later and I saw our beat writer already tried to contact him.
Quentin Millora-Brown is Filipino-American. Seems fairly young for his class, as he does not turn 18 until next August, after graduating from high school.

Sounds like he's rapidly improving which is good to hear. Strong value on education. Both things I like to see in our recruits.

Oddly he transferred schools for his senior year it looks like. Out of the private league to a public school in Virginia.
Seems to have some potential but also looks a little raw as of right now. That should be it for the recruiting for the upcoming class. It also probably means that Lapray and Jones are likely graduate seniors (there was some talk that one or both of them might have 2 years of eligibility remaining).

I updated the list.

Is Quentin transferring from O'Connell, which is the private, Catholic High School for whom he competed as a junior.?
Great to see the progress. Kudos to Coach Pera and his staff.

Yes. To South County HS in Virginia.
Glynn Hill from the Chronicle also tweeted out today the Rice women have a new commitment today.

6-5 Ari McCurry of Roseville, CA. So the 2018-19 team will feature a 6-5 and a 6-9 player! That's obviously our largest duo ever although we did have a 6-4 and 6-6 duo one year.

Nice to see one Texan in there.

Does Rice still have 1 open scholarship this year, or was it given to a walk-on? Does anyone know whether AJ Lapray was granted a 6th year of eligibility, or whether he was denied, or whether it is still pending? Bishop Mency and Dylan Jones are both completing their eligibility.

I count 12 scholarship players on the current team (or possibly 13 if one of the walk-ons has been put on scholarship for this year). Jones, Lapray and Mency are all seniors so that's either 3 or 4 open scholarships (but if a walk-on is on scholarship this year, he's probably not on scholarship next year).

Of course attrition can always create more open scholarships later. We know all too much about that.

Mallorca-Brown looks like a diamond in the rough. If he builds up strength, which seems likely, he will be tough on both ends of the court. He will also need to develop a shot away from the rim.

If he can defend and rebound like Kazemi I will be less concerned if he like Kazemi fails to develop an outside shot.

One of Kazemi's friends and former teammates told me that Kazemi had a fine mix-range jumper, the staff just told him not to shoot it.
