Another tough week to do the power poll with several teams not playing, but I'll give it a go. Mine is a combination of best of this week and the season overall. I'm putting NMSU first for their play as of late, but can't honestly say I'm convinced for example that they would beat Ark St. Here goes:

1) NMSU
2) stAte
3) App St.
4) Troy
5) ULM
6) Coastal
7) ULL
8) USA
9) Idaho
10) Georgia Southern
11) Texas St.
12) Georgia St.
Let's see, week 1 TXST's win sucked because it was HBU so got ranked below other teams that lost.
Week 2 we lose to a Pac12 team but that's worse than losing to another G5 by 24 an FCS or, hell, not playing at all.
I guess there's a template where TXST is just plugged into the 11th slot.

Sounds about right. You have to actually prove you're better than last year. It'll all play out within the next few weeks anyway.

So ULL losing to a G5 is proving what and I thought that we went round and round on this last year that it was a weekly rank and not cumulative. Last year has no bearing; unless the rules changed to fit that scenario after it got to so many pages I stopped following the thread.
1. NMSU
2. App St.
3. Troy
4. Arkansas St? Coastal?
5. Coastal? Arkansas St?
6. I don't know and who cares?
I think we decided it's however you want to rank them, but explain how you are doing the ranking, which I did. It's SO hard to rank these teams right now and I didn't get to watch every game obviously. Maybe we do two rankings every week. One for performance that particular week and one cumulative. Thoughts?

We've lost how many sbc games over the last 6 years and you're not sure if we'd beat Coastal

Don't really care about the order. I always look at this season a lot more heavily than anything else. You guys played well against a better team but Coastal won against an FBS team and Arkansas St. didn't. Hence the question marks.
Am I the only one that doesn't get the infatuation with Coastal? They beat a terrible UMass team by what? 10 points or so? Again, very glad the won and definitely not a bad win, but my money would be on Arkansas St. smoking them. This is not a knock on y'all Coastal fans and I know you have a very good program, but a win over UMass in your first year in the SBC does not put you on the level of stAte already. For your sake and the improvement of the conference I hope you guys are that good, besides got the game in Monroe this year! Lol.

Pardon us for not scheduling UMass then. Perhaps we should have given up our P5 games to and a good regional game with SMU so we could play crappy FBS teams from all over the country.
This week:

1. NMSU
2. App St.
3. Troy

Everyone else.

I really hate the situation we're in. Miami would have defined us as a team. Now we have an FCS (UAPB) and then on to a resurgent SMU. I'm afraid the team will be overconfident going to SMU.

Rather doubt that.

Anderson calling plays was the cure for everything that ailed you.............except for receivers dropping passe.

Dude, no one from Coastal has even commented on this thread. I haven't seen any Coastal fan say they think we could beat stAte, or App, or Troy. You're obviously upset that we have one of the two wins against a FBS program for the conference and are getting some positive attention for it, I get that it's frustrating to you. We all wish the conference would have done better up to now, but it's just week 2 and unfortunately the UMASS win is amongst the best performances in the conference to date. We're the only undefeated team left in the conference. Sorry our on field performance doesn't correlate better with where you think we should be. We play in a few weeks and you'll get the chance to put us in our place.

stAte's 6 year Sun Belt Lipper average has how much to do with 2017 week 2? Considering the Sun Belt has had zero (also the answer to the aforementioned question) conference games to date, we go by 2017 games played so far.

Is it really a stretch for someone to consider a FCS transition team might beat stAte (feel free to include your last 6 seasons when answering)? Posters make these rankings based on games played this season and they remain fluid. Since CCU has a FBS win and stAte (as well as App) does not, then the Chants should be ranked above both.

That's where I am, except I'd stick NMSU in between Coastal and ULL. NMSU beat a pretty good UNM team last year and still did poorly in conference.

They are a lot better now is a good place to start.

A fairer question is why the other SBC teams think they can beat them.

There was only one reason they lost 3 of the 4 SBC games they lost the last 4 years ( and 3 were in the first year of a new HC) and it appease since the UCA game last year that they that they fixed that problem.
I still get a chuckle how folks take offense to a fan generated power poll that 99% of the time has the fan VASTLY overrating their team.

Aside from that laughter, I am happy for the following this week:

NMSU getting their win over their rival. That's always a big thing, and ensures the season is not a total loss.
Happy about the way that Texas State played. If we get any semblance of an offense, we might be onto something here (we got smoked, and I knew the second half would be rough, but it was still encouraging, which is all I can ask for).

Sad for the following:
- Georgia Southern losing. My hopes for the conference to be successful this season was going undefeated against FCS, and unfortunately the two Georgia schools are having problems. It really sucks for their fans, and is not great on the conference.
- stAte because I really do think that playing Miami would have been a good, fun game.

Moving on to next week, where we have a REALLY tough game against App. Glad to have them come to Texas to enjoy what looks to be good tailgate/football weather, and I get to see them in person.
Plus, we have the Cajuns playing A&M, which is INFINITELY winnable for the Cajuns, but will be a tough game.
Idaho is playing Western Michigan which should be fun.
USM/ULM... Another fun game.
CCU is playing UAB, which is an INTERESTING game.
And Troy faces NMSU... Two Sun Belt teams which have looked pretty solid early on.
The other teams I didn't mention because they are playing FCS or P5 teams which really at this point, don't interest me (I don't see them being competitive).

So I'm really looking forward to week 3.

I'm not saying y'all aren't the best team in the conference or that your fans said anything of the like. I'm just saying I don't think a win over UMass puts you on the level of Arkansas St. Heck, y'all may be better and you may smoke us in Monroe. I'm in no way talking trash and am not even talking to Coastal fans because none of y'all are running your mouths. Just saying I think y'all need to do more than beat
UMass than to be declared the second coming.
I'll ask again Why does any SBC team think they can beat this A-State team?

They have lost one SBC game in two years and are a lot more talented than any recent A-State team.

We can't. But they can't beat us, either.
