Sorry, I was looking at scores and typed wrong team, UMass had 400 total off yds. Seems like a lot from a 0-3 team. Just wondering if the ODU defense is as good as you guys are saying.
No Worries. They had 322 total yds and one for 54 yds i think for their lone score. Rest is here and there and like Bit mentioned its mostly due to playing bend don't break defense. This is the best Defense we have ever had and that's for sure.

332 total yards. Compared to 441 & 503 their first two games.
Our D line is straight nasty. They broke a 60 yard TD pass and if not for that they would have been shutout. I don't remember them really threatening to score the rest of the game. Our defense is good but without better offensive production it wont be good enough against better competition.

No turnovers all stalled drives. The game feed was unwatchable for most of the game so only who made their way to the Amherst got to watch the complete game or some who had Eleven Sports Network(Heard about it for the very first time)

I have not seen a box score with the 400 yards, it maybe, the game really didn't feel like UMASS was moving the ball (they may have had close to 200 yards passing). I know they had the one play they scored with, a long 60+ yard pass reception (that one got away). I think both defenses were having a good day. ODU was putting a lot of pressure on the QB and he really played well considering. He was sacked a lot, but he kept coming back. ODU left one score on the field.
The bottom line is our QB situation seems to be a lot of on the field, in game learning going on. I think both of the QB's (LaRussa & Hoy) are improving each time they are in a game situation. Unfortunately time is running out with UNC and VA Tech looming as the next two teams we play. Baptismal by fire.

ODU looks shaky. Marshall and MT seem to be playing the best in the East right now.
UTSA had a good P5 win yesterday, but Baylor is now 0-2, with their other loss being to Liberty. UTSA might be very good this season. Due to the cancellation of their Houston game, we really won't find out how good they are until October 7th, when they host Southern Miss. Unfortunately, no other team in C-USA West has done much of anything.
WKU and Tech. The Herd is a year away - as of now, 19 starters back for 2018.

A lot of teams seem to be a year away so who knows. Right now I say it comes down to Marshall and MT in the east and UTSA and USM in the west. But it's still real early.

In addition to the 60-yard TD pass, another 60 yards came in the last 1:41 of the game with ODU letting them have the underneath stuff in garbage time. ODU also had eight sacks spread out among five members of the D-line.

It is definitely still way too early, but it feels good to have Marshall at least being talked about again. Last year was rough, but the excitement seems to be coming back to the program. I just hope MU can back up the hype. We need a big win against Kent State and hopefully a win against Cincy.
