Don't worry the announced attendance will probably be around 30,000.

OK I was wrong - 24,325.

Which is about 17,000 more than were actually there.

I think it is apparent that unless USF gets into a P5 conference, fans will not show up. If a Top 25 team won't do it, nothing else will.

I've been to a USF game with 60k in attendance. I think them going to the Big East early and having some success has caused issues going back down the conference chain. Their fanbase just expected success. They never built a big core group of fans that can weather the rough years. They need an OCS asap. The rental stadium leads to come and go fans.
Well, to be fair, I think a lot of people in Florida are distracted agree Irma (I know my family there is).

USF's early success against big teams gave them a false sense of relevancy with their fans. The truth was they were a young fan base with little in the way of roots. Many of the USF fans at the games were "chasing the shiny object" but when the shine wore off they were back to being a program still in its infancy in terms of building a fan base. When Judy fired JL and hired SH she thought she was legitimizing the program when in fact she was removing the only real base it had. It has taken this long for USF to rebuild and now those 15-20k fans are true real fans invested in the program, not fans looking for a band wagon. There is something good to be said about that.

There will always be comparisons between UCF and and USF because they are similar programs. One of the the differences is that UCF's road has been longer and more difficult in terms of conference affiliation and opportunities. As a result UCF has built a fan base that quite frankly was used to disappointment until about 2010. So even in down years UCF will draw decent crowds. The construction of the OCS in 2007 transformed the UCF experience. If the UCF students had to slog it down to the CB instead of just tailgating outside their dorms our attendance would suffer as well.

When you have Joey Galloway and Booger McFarland (I know Booger use to play for the Bucs and still lives in Tampa...Joey might have played for them too), on ESPN making wise cracks about the lack of crowd (once saying "all 4,000 fans are upset" during the first half and how "no worries about post-game traffic...be out of the stadium in seconds"), usf needs to build a right size 35,000 seat on-campus stadium but odds are, they will continue to push it off and off for years to come.

NOTE: Like UCF, usf has challenges selling season tix to those on the East Side (in the sun for day games), which is the main view of sideline cameras which leads to many embarrassing crowd shots like this one.

It's because they used to be in the Big East. Their fans perceive them to be in an inferior conference.

Sadly, I perceive this to be balls-on accurate.

It is a big factor, I was a student when we were packing the house

I think it is BS though, it is a terrible excuse.

This team deserves better.

Anyways, make fun of us if you want but I bet we beat your ass on the field!

I predict USF loses 3 out their last 4. Really sloppy undisciplined team

Yes and our administration has been slow in realizing that. Since due to tv we now have many day games and weeknight games which are more difficult for fans to attend they need to be proactive
1. Seats on the East side should be cheaper and lower contributions than those on west side.
2. A lot of bad blood was created when ticket prices were increased when the demotion happened from Big East to AAC. That turned off many season ticket holders as well as raising donation levels for areas and not grandfathering those buying from start.
3. Horrible communication from athletics when ticket holders complained and was basically told to pound sand.
There was a lot of needless stupid acts committed by those in power to a young fan base that wasn’t established yet.
This is why I say it will take years of athletics being better at reaching out and making up for past mistakes. They have improved but far to go, it seems their thinking is winning will solve all
I watched the game last night. There were maybe 5,000 people at the game.
Oh, and I know ECU sucks so don't bother reminding me.

LMAO...you are going to lose that bet Mr. Hot Take.
Oh if only the Michigan fans would show up to weigh in on AAC attendance smack.
No smack... but USF attendance is officially a problem

Yeah, that's what our 9 game winning streak says. Your troll efforts continue to suck as bad as your team. 03-zzz
I don't understand how a top 25 team can only get 10k Burts in seats. YSF is huge university with a lot of alumni and you were playing a team that stopped you from getting your 1st ever football championship. No smack I just don't understand.

First off if it's not really smack you want start by quoting correct numbers. There were 16k in butts at the game Thursday announced by TSA that scans everyone that enters stadium.

1. Attendance at USF stinks and needs to be addressed.
2. There are some reasons for them but at the end fans and community need to show up.
3. There are things that USF has control over and have done in past to hurt things and can do in future to improve.
4. There are things out of USF control.
5. Things won't change overnight.

I love beating on USF attendance numbers as much as anyone (mostly because they one of the few programs that has their actual attendance number exposed because of the stadium they play in) but does it seem meaningless at this point?

Nah....bring on those TSA numbers!!!!

Nah....it's alive and well!
