Volleyball went 2-1 this weekend, with victories over Davidson and Loyola Maryland and a loss to App St in a tournament we hosted.

Davidson and App also went 2-1, so there wasn't a real tournament "champ". Loyola went 0-3 and only won 1 set all weekend.

Next up, the Seahawks head to Durham for a tournament hosted by Duke on Labor Day weekend. We'll face Duke, South Carolina and Northwestern.
Lost to duke and beat south carolina

UNCW teams with two solid wins last night.
Another dissappointing end to the season this past weekend with a "win" loss over Elon. Why do you say? They had to win in 3 sets in order to jump Elon for last place in the 8-team tournament and instead lost in 4. Oh and the set they lost (28-26) they were up 19-9 as well as 24-20 and still lost...at home.

Two years straight of missing the tournament when we won the whole thing 2 years ago....

03-banghead
We were up 24-17 in that 2nd set. They scored 7 straight points to force a "deuce" situation.

Losing assistant coach AJ Bonetti after our CAA Title season seems to remain the biggest reason we've struggled. That loss cannot be overstated.

At Tennessee, where Bonetti is now, they went from 8-24 the year before he arrived to 21-12 in 2015 and 17-14 in 2016. They did struggle this season (11-13) but still, Bonetti has made his mark there overall.
I thought we were actually young and rebuilding this year.

We did have 6 freshman on this year's squad, 1 of which became an everyday starter (Setter Brynn Montgomery) and another whose role grew over the course of the season (Outside Hitter Jaime Thomas).

But having said that I did think we underachieved a bit last year when we went 7-9 in conference play. Then we went 5-11 this season. Hopefully we have our bounceback season next year and get over .500.
you are slacking 08, we already discussed, anytime a name is mentioned, there must be a picture

I would agree as well, the young core is as solid as they come, especially if the setter position will be locked down for years to come (Brynn).

I just dont know why the team cannot get over that proverbial hump...plus how are conference opponents consistently winning 20+ games a year (Towson, Madison, Charleston). I remember a stretch there where UNCW hadn't lost to JMU in about 5 years!

Because we need a new coaching staff. Surprised it isn't obvious to everyone. The talent we had this year should have taken us to #1 in the CAA.
