Lies lies lies, she's nothing more than an Uncle Tom (she's obviously trans) doing the bidding of her, er, his southern masters! Ignore that (wo)man behind the curtain!
I know the answer is probably just going to be 'slavery', but I've often wondered why the South is seen as so racist. I've visited many parts of the country, and they don't seem any less racist to me.
Many parts of the north are as much, if not more, racist than the south.
Boston and every borough of NY outside of Manhattan are still literally segregated.

Cleveland.

I was stationed in Cleveland from 2008-2011. My wife and I lived downtown the first year and walking home from an Indians/Yankees game in the middle of the summer. As we walked on the sidewalk, a man walked towards us and as he passed stated "Who said y'all crackers could walk on this side of the road?"

That was it. We shook our heads and just kept walking. I grew up in the South in NC. I've seen racism on both sides there, but it's not as out in the open as it seems in other places in the north (on both sides). It's like they have a feeling that they're not considered the racists ones in the country, so it's okay to them. All while they point fingers at the south and claim ideological superiority.
The South is pretty much solid Republican so if there wasn't a switch, why aren't they still voting Democrat?

Personally, as a Hispanic I thought I was going to be treated differently while on vacation to Savannah and Charleston SC because of my skin tone but in reality I was treated very well. Not so much by Blacks though, I don't know why but ho hum, that's their problem. In NYC the only time I met funny looks were by a Guatemalan looking dude. That's funny that he would act so snobbish towards me and my wife. I wish I knew what was going through his mind. But I wouldn't hesitate on going to the DeepSouth for a vacay again. I loved the area and the people. Even Stinky wants me to visit him, verdad, Stinky? LOL

Guatemalan looking dude? How did you know he was Guatemalan just by looking at him?

Drat! My wife's put me on a strict diet, no beer anymore. She got scared when the Doc said my BP was 200 something over 100 something or another. Ha, hey you die, you die, right?" I have about 29 beers in my cooler right now and can't drink nary a one. I'm gonna protest. What a time to issue the invite. Ha, ha.

That is why you shouldn't allow White Supremists to come to your town and rally around Confederate Statues because the world sees that and thinks the South is still not as far along as they need to be.

But, how's your cholesterol?

My doctor wanted me in the ER and I said nothing doing, give me the pills. They've worked so far. Yesterday I mowed the lawn and the lower number was in the high 70s so I guess they're working. Todays reading was 135/74 with BP at 78 and a chance of rain and frozen rain pellets. As much as I fought it, old age has crept up to me but I can still kick Fit's butt. LOL All this watching Youtube videos have made me a Youtube Certified Karate Black Belt.

History has moved on, please tell the libs.

Check out this video on the great Party switch by a history professor from Vanderbilt

If this is somehow supposed to be a scholarly dissertation associated with Vanderbilt University, why is it produced by a right wing non-profit radio talk show host? I'm pretty sure any self respecting academic at that fine Southern university would disavow such lame ideas as mere conservative propaganda.
