Quote:The CCU Department of Athletics and Raycom Sports have announced that the Chanticleers’ football game vs. UAB on Sept. 16 at Legion Field will be a regionally syndicated broadcast with kickoff set for 12 p.m.

The game will be televised locally in Myrtle Beach and Florence on WMBF News and in Birmingham on WBRC Fox 6
Good game time. Fox 6 televising locally is pretty cool. Has fox 6 ever televised one of our games before?

I don't think I've ever seen channel 6 do a syndicated game, but Raycom owns channel 6 now. If Fox doesn't have a nascar race or something they'd be showing infomercials at that time anyway
I think Raycom has done some UAB games before including possibly Missouri from a few years ago.

As mentioned, Raycom hasn't owned 6 in the past.

WTTO 21/ WABM 68 has done games previously and 42 may have done some games years ago when they were our Blazer Station.
I'm guessing the 1pm is Eastern?

21 and 68 (and 33/40) are owned by Sinclair so they'll still have some games this year, since Sinclair owns part of Stadium

C*USA media rights are awesome

Yeah, you're probably right.

TBS broadcast the Missouri game.
Also UAB Band Day.
I'm not crazy about the 1pm kickoff. I would rather kickoff be around 4pm or later. Gives more time for tailgating.

Yes it is. Noon kickoff.
Makes me chose between watching my grandson play and UAB with these early kickoffs. Really like anything past 4PM.

yay !!!! we can get back to complaining about kickoff times again....
First let me say am am thankful and grateful to have UAB Football back and yes I realize that TV dictates kickoff times. If we kicked off at 1:00AM in the parking lot at the Pig I would be there Sept 2. I do think it sucks to have noon kickoffs when a lot of us have family that play in games that kick off at the exact same time but I as most get it and understand it. For the record I have had to explain to my grandson why I am missing some of his games, especially his season opener Sept 2 and that did not go over too well. It also prevents these young men from coming to our games. I also know that we were asked what time we preferred kickoff so it's not like the door is not open to dislike a kickoff time.

Again I am grateful and thankful that we have a program and that we will be playing football and I put my money where my mouth is donated, bought multiple season tickets, a parking pass, and tailgate pass. I understand why kickoff times are when they are when TV is factored into when teams play but I do not have to like the kickoff time and refuse to apologize for not liking it. That said I will be there cheering for UAB instead of the Ashville Bulldogs.
only one question... what is the benefit to local television?
