Just found a thread on an ECU board about our streamers:

They are eagerly anticipating streamers, so we shouldn't disappoint them
So what color streamers are people bringing for ECU? It might get a bit confusing with the traditional purple and yellow/gold. Purple and White instead?

i think any streamers will be great. i wouldn't worry about colors, it will be clear that it's JMU fans throwing them.

Dukester is right: don't buy purple streamers. If you hate the idea of white streamers, choose yellow.
I got a chuckle out of the comment JMU would be out of streamers by halftime. If so, I'd say ECU is in for a very long afternoon. Perhaps the fan who made the comment doesn't realize that JMU doesn't stop scoring just becausee JMU fans have run out of streamers.

We don't stop throwing because we are out, we stop because of the pounding we are putting on the opposition and try to show a little sportsmanship.

Which is great, excepting when we score 80+ (or 60+ like JMU posted on undefeated SHSU).
More than a few games last year my arm got tired out throwing streamers!!!

I honestly don't think it matters. They don't do it, it will happen when we score. Everyone will know exactly what it's in celebration of. Heck, the next home game they'll be doing it themselves.

Yeah, get the feeling they may very well "steal" this tradition, and spread it to other FBS schools. Didn't something similar happen in Basketball?
Personally I think a mix of Purple and White might look good for this game.
I think uva students were doing it at their basketball games.
