I don't think I've seen anyone from Marshall come on here and defend last year. We all are aware of what happened with our results last year, if not knowing the exact cause or combination of causes. It's not really any different that USM's 3 year debacle, or your loss of the team, Rice going from the top to the bottom. **** happens. If UAB comes out and lays an egg, well below any expectations, we'll see how gracious you are taking criticism.
Most important is taking care of OOC business. Win the ones we should and pick up a few we shouldn't. The conference play will work itself out, but we need to continue to win some tough games pre-conference to get out of the cellar.
Our biggest fear is that we aren't any better and we don't take steps to make changes to get better. If we have another like last year and Doc remains at the helm it will be an exodus of support akin to anything the bible throws out there. All of our Herd forums are soundly split between critical posters/sky is falling types and sunshine pumpers. I don't think it will take much to push the ever-optimistics over the edge. Many of us believe it hinges on the Miami game. Decent peer school is a good marker of where we're at. Close game or a win and we'll be fine, most likely. Another Akron type game at home and the sky firmly hits the ground.

I know UAB football hasn't been around so I'll give you a pass as maybe you didn pay attention during football season. Nothing that was said wasnt said on here by all Marshall fans. It was well documented on here and other media and obviously in Huntington and in Marshall circles that off the field issues played a major role in last year's fluke season. Add in the injuries and it was a perfect poop storm.

Everything said was obvious to any observer of the team. None of that took anonymous sources.
Last season was terrible. I think most of what we saw last year is correctable. Hopefully, it's corrected.
Other than a few nut cases, most Marshall fans admit last year was a dumpster fire on many levels and most of us HOPE we turn that around this season.

I tried to pay attention last year, but when you're team isn't in it, it's not the same. Plus, with the extra free time, I decided to travel and watch other teams. Wouldn't be surprised if most of our fan base is a little lost looking at the conference. I'm just upset we didn't get our chance to get a lick in while you were down. We just can't seem to beat you guys.
I'm predicting 6-6... But 3-9 or 7-5 wouldn't surprise me either....
And what the other Marshall posters have said is true. Hopefully, the team has grown up. They know they sucked last year. End of file.
