Wonder how this will turn out for us?

If he's true to his word to spread the floor, gets the type of shooting we've been led to believe Huiett can provide (and BJ) and Green gives us that Talley-like more consistent player, I think this team can surprise. If we remain unreasonably dependent on defense, I'm not as confident.

01-ncaabbs Couldn't have said it better myself.
By far, this is JJ's best freshman class. We desperately need some bigs after this season, and a transfer or two wouldn't hurt (yep, I said that) :)

We arent going to all of a sudden turn into Marshall, its unreasonable due to how well we play defense, which is our greatest strength. But, it does appear that we have more wings that can spread the floor and get out in transition. We need less jumpshots and more efficient shots (3s or shots in paint). Whether that comes in transition or halfcourt doesnt matter to me.
No one mentioned Marshall or anything approaching it

I know. Just making a point
What people are excited about is that we will finally have the opportunity to allow our bigs to be 1V1 on the glass or in the paint. You double and you get yourself in trouble.

I would hope that nobody on here wants to be like Marshall. GROSS playing style.

Can't tell if serious. Marshall's playing style is either taking a 3 pointer or a layup asap, with little emphasis on defense. They are essentially the opposite of us, our style being one a lot on here complain about.
God knows there's a happy medium. Find it, Jeff.

I am very serious. You cannot have sustained success playing no defense. You can get hot offensively but defense isn't a switch you can flip.

What? There are no happy mediums on these boards.

There offensive style is fine but it appears to be pretty much impossible to combine it with anybreasonable amount of defense. Im guessing you would have to be insanely deep and have a talent level far greater than any P-5 school has.

But, I would love to install some of the offensive concepts they use in regards to taking more efficient shots. You dont have to play fast to have good offense.

I agree 100%. We just need to pick up the pace a smidge.
The first basketball thread I could find. Marcus Evans has torn his Achilles. I know he had to sit anyway, but that is a tough injury to bounce back from. Wish him the best.
