Just curious who your school's top hoops target is for next year's class? And I'm not talking about a reach but someone you have a legit chance at landing.

SMU's is Gerald Liddell - 4-star SF (#40 in the class).

UC really doesn't need much but seem to be prioritizing a PG since Broome and Jenifer will be seniors (when the 2018 class arrives). Looks like the top target is Tyler Harris from Memphis. Won MVP at the Fab 48 in Vegas over the weekend...

houston technically only has 1 more scholarship to give...but guessing that atleast 1 will transfer out, so likely 2

these are our top 2 targets, both have listed UH top 5. depending on the site, it switches which is higher rated

Dimon Carrigan- 4star pf

Miller Kopp- 4star sf

4* SF Isaiah Mucius 63 or 68 depending on your site of choice.

Both these players also have/had Wichita State in their top 5. I don't know if they are our top targets but Miller Kopp is a name we've been hearing for a while.

Tyler Harris has also been mentioned in this topic and Wichita State is in on him. I didn't know Cincy was involved. It might be personal bias but I've considered it a two horse race between Iowa State and Wichita State for a while, with Iowa State being the clear odds on favorite. I think we have a better shot at fellow Memphis PG Alex Lomax.

As you can already see, we don't really have the "luxury" of having a top target. We have to replace so much of our roster and we have dozens (yes, dozens) of offers out right now on top of the two 2018 commits we already have.
SMU has interest in Kopp too. I believe he had an unofficial visit recently. He can flat out shoot the ball.

Tyler Harris has only scheduled two visits: Iowa State and Cincinnati.
I believe we are looking for someone that can dribble with one hand....

U need someone who will buy into the Lebo way.

Wichita State probably has a legit chance at Dimon Carrigan, Alex Lomax or Keyontae Johnson. We were high on Tyler Harris and Miller Kopp for awhile, but it seems the mutual interest has started to diminish. Will be shocked if TH doesn't end up at Iowa State. Kopp is likely to Northwestern or Vandy, but maybe SMU is the third horse in the race now. Seems we've also been making a push for Top-50 Bryan Penn-Johnson, but will be hard to lure him away from the Pac-12 it seems.

When these potential recruits reach a certain age, long after they're done with school and basketball, they'll be able to dribble completely hands-free. In fact, they probably won't have a choice in the matter.

Were losing 2 Skilled Big BUT Nysier Brooks is going to steal some of Kyle's minutes this year. His offense is growing quickly and he is an elite rim protector already.
IMO the 5 spot is spoken for with Brooks. Then backed up by Nsesome, who from insiders, is said to have an extremely high motor and rebounds and blocks shots very well already. Just needs offensive work

Then at the 4 you have a few options:
Diarra: 6'9 Skilled Stretch 4 who can shoot jump shots. Raw but could be polished up really nice as a high energy stretch 4

Scott: A 6'8 Soph with tons of bounce, defensive energy and is getting better offensively. He needs to put some lift into his jumpshot but ultimately could be a starter his JR year.

So were are technically 2 deep at that 4 and 5 right now.

This class is EXTREMELY weak with Bigs, so I'd rather not waste a scholarship on a project big when we have 4 already.

Also, for the 2018-19 season I could see UC running out a small ball Skilled lineup of Broome, Cumberland, Williams, Evans and then Brooks at the 5. Diarra could back up the 3 and 4, with T. Moore backing up the 2-3 and Jenifer backing up the 1 and 2 other bigs backing up the 5.

We NEED a future PG but we don't need a big this class IMO

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too...

The entire roster has very good class balance except at point guard with two rising juniors (will be seniors when 2018 arrives), thus I think that is the biggest need as you don't want to rely on a true freshman in 2019. The frontcourt has a ton of athletic depth right now.

PF:
Tre Scott - Soph
Mamoudou Diarra - Fresh

C:
Nysier Brooks - Soph
Eliel Nsoseme - Fresh

I'm very confident Brooks will take over after Washington leaves and be a very good player (albiet with a very different style) as he'll push him for starter minutes this year. Power forward is a little different as Scott wasn't great last year and we haven't seen Diarra yet. Both have great potential though, especially Diarra, so I don't see the 4 spot as a pressing need. Obviously it would be ideal if you could bring in another Gary Clark type, but it's going to be tough to recruit that type of talent when you already have two underclassmen at that position. Just my .02
