About damn time. Winning
Will they investigate discrimination against non-legacies?

Just wait for my kids to get through before they do

yup....

the admission standard should only require, "I'm human"

If you saw some of these freshmen, you think that was the only admission criteria

no questioning that.....

my point was strictly to the subject line and how merit should be the sole criteria.....even southern miss has (finally) begun addressing that problem....it's head drop scary what I've seen crawl through over the last couple of decades....

in general, many universities have evolved into another subsidized business run amok.....it's sad watching it happen....

This is a complete red herring.

First of all, I'm sure most people wouldn't care if legacy admissions go away. Very few people actually get them.

Second, the Supreme Court has set guidelines as to how race can and cannot be used in admissions.

I don't have much confidence at all that schools are following what the Supreme Court has said is legal, and I'm glad the DoJ is finally going to peel back the layers and see if they're doing it correctly.

And few public universities do legacy admissions anymore. I know Texas and Georgia don't. It's mostly elite privates that still do it
I'm pretty sure I got a scholarship because I refused to say what race I am and I came from a "chocolate" city. I believe they assumed I was black. I did ace the math portion of my SATs, but my verbal score and HS grades were meh.
About time he got to the most pressing issue of our time.

Thanks trump. With your help maybe the white man will finally get a fair shake!

White discrimination is happening in areas that are dominated by liberals. It is an actual thing. All discrimination is wrong... this included.

This is all part of the liberal dream of everyone being equally miserable. Nobody is allowed to stand out.

Not a red herring. Many graduate programs still use legacies for consideration. If a school was segregated at one time, using legacies perpetuates that discrimination.

When has there been equality in America? Fair only comes to town once a year.
Why are liberals so ashamed of being white?

Well yeah, if I am going to donate a building, I expect my son will get into the school with a HS diploma. Without that deal, the taxpayers can pay for the building. Without putting skin in the game, "legacy" means jack schit. That's life anywhere. At least there is some value to legacy admissions.
