The statement that I will make, is not what I want to seen, but looking at my factors, money becomes the biggest factor.

Last year we slipped to 6500 in basketball attendance.

we can't get enough ODAF fans to fill our season tickets in Football.

ODAF fans can not continue paying for these salary increases, both in Football and Basketball.

We put 100k to Bobby and also increased the football assistants. We also put 50k for the new women's coach salary which is 250k. I know the football coaches need the increases, but I would wait one more year to show that last year was not just a dream year.

In men's basketball, I think this is probably the worst OOC schedule I have seen at ODU.

This along with the type of play they have, hurts attendance. In addition we have no depth.

How can we dismiss two (Mosley and Tally) yet bring a player in, who was dismissed from his team?

The problems we have are(1) no recruit wants to come into a defense only coach (2) stipends at the p5 and some other schools are going for 6k where we are only close to 3K, and finally no fan or student wants to come out and see the teams we are playing. Teams have different team rules. People need to stop complaining about kicking delinquents out.

It is infinitely easier to offer an athlete we don't know a second chance over offering the same guy chances over and over.

Winning should never overshadow accountability to standards of conduct period.

1. 6500 fans for basketball is not bad at all for a team not in a big money conference. There are schools in our own conference that would kill for half that.

2. The schedule is pretty crappy, but I think I've seen a few this bad in the past. JJ knows he needs a big year to keep his job. Capel pulled the same stuff.

3. We have to pay Bobby and all of our coaches well in order to have success. Until we expand the football stadium to include more seats and suites, build more corporate partnerships and sell more stuff (though Im not sure that helps if Aramark gets the money), ODAF is the only way to pay. We need to grow ODAF membership so the existing members can level off their giving while continuing to grow revenue for ODU. Also, CUSA leadership needs to stop sucking and get revenue back up to close to a million per school.

4. We sell out of our allotment of season tickets every year. Its getting harder, and the general public has to buy a few to make it happen. Again, there are plenty of teams, many in our own conference that would love to have such problems.

5. JJs style in boring as crap, and the exact opposite of what Selig promised. That horse is plenty dead and significantly beaten.

6. We dismissed our guys because they broke team rules. Other schools gave them a second chance. The kid we're bringing in, broke is old team's rules, not ours, and we're giving him a second chance. Its how it works.

Until we get in a better conference I don't see how we improve that much. The teams we want to play won't come because our rpi will usually suck due to who we play in conference. We won't be able to expand the football stadium to 35,000 until we're bringing in Navy and ECU every year. We can certainly do better in basketball recruiting, but even there, the conference holds us back more than most because we are so far from any other team.

Who are we bringing in that was kicked off another team?

This thread should be merged into the ODU Master Plan because clearly THE DESTRUCTION OF ODU MAJOR SPORTS...was part of a dreamed up master plan.

"Glass half empty" rules on this board, and I don't agree with his position on giving football coaches a raise after last season. They earned it and if there was ever a year an assistant would have roving eyes it would be after a 10-win season. Nonetheless, he's no troll.
