Nashville finished 18th/30 last year and played for the Stanley Cup.

Nashville finished 1st/31 this year and was a Round 2 casualty.

That suuuuuuucks.

You’re 0/2 on series involving the Jets.

Time to get on the bandwagon
Both the teams playing for the Western Conference Title have never won a playoff game prior to this year!

Jets get game 1, but IMO, a series doesn't start till someone gets a road win.

IMO, they are kind of like the Sharks over the last 10 years... have had the talent and the playoff bids, but never the success they should have. For them to clear the mental hurdle of beating the Penguins will probably do one of two things... they get the confidence to dominate in the next round OR they blew their wad to get by them and will go out fast in the next round.

The Bolts are pretty legit.

think we have an early answer for the Caps so far. playing really well.
Vegas bringing monster ratings

Quote:The series between the Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets is the most-watched Western Conference Final not involving Chicago in NBC Sports Group history, the network announced Tuesday.

Nhl struck gold going there.
Vegas, a 1st year expansion team started from scratch is ONE win away from a Stanley Cup Finals appearance.

Their immediate success will hurt all future expansion teams.

That said, with the nature of Las Vegas, I think them being a winner in year 1 could have been the best thing to happen to them as I feel like that city is very transient in terms of fan support and if they hadn't have won like they did it would have been a grand failure for the NHL to put a team there.
I think it sucks from the perspective that they aren't even remotely an underdog. Had they been good but not too good, maybe a 6 or 7 seed, then won a bunch of rounds in close calls, It'd be more exciting. This sucks because a bunch of long suffering fanbases, especially Canadian ones, are being upstaged by an expansion team.
Veaga advances.... Wow!

Canadian cup drought extends to year 25.... One of these days!

Winnipeg looked pretty good for the majority of the series... They just had a few small lapses of poor play that Vegas took advantage of... Definitely very curious to see the end of the year injury report to see how banged up our guys were that Paul Maurice was keeping secret.

Plus Marc Andre Fleury was on fire for games 2-5...

At the end of the day, I'm still very proud of how far the Jets made it into the playoffs. They definitely exceeded expectations and earned some valuable experience that they can use in the future. I see this team being a perennial threat in the West going forward for the next 3-5 years.

I'll be rooting for the winner of the Caps/Lightning series to win it all... Not because Vegas beat my team, but because I can't bring myself to root for the "feel good" "underdog" "rag-tag misfit" team in the desert. They had the most favorable expansion draft in modern history...something I'm sure Columbus and Minnesota fans aren't too happy about, but oh well. That said, I don't want to discredit the effort of the Knights, because generous draft or not, it's still impressive to make it as far as they did.

Anyway, looking forward to next October.
Elimination game for the Caps tonight. It should be entertaining to say the least.
Caps force Game 7 Wednesday in Tampa!
Tonight's game 7 looking like a battle of attrition with all the big hits and physical play.
The Caps can't blow this can they?
WOW... surprised the Caps could shut out TB @ TB. I think that is good mojo for them heading into the finals.

Knights are the story of the NHL this year.

I think this will be a entertaining series!
