Quote: Shortly after Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association head Patrick Lynch blasted Mayor de Blasio, several hundred cops turned away in protest when Hizzoner spoke at the funeral of slain Officer Miosotis Familia.

The anger resurfaced during Tuesday’s service, spurred by the mayor’s excursion to Germany one day after last Wednesday’s execution of 12-year NYPD vet Familia.

Photos showed scores of police officers standing on the Grand Concourse with their backs to the World Changers Church in the Bronx as the mayor’s speech was played via a public address system.

Quote: “The mayor is the compass for the city of New York,” said Lynch before the funeral. “And unfortunately, when a police officer got killed, his compass led him to Germany rather than here on the (Grand) Concourse.

“He should have been here with the family ... He should have been there with us.”

Quote:Ed Mullins, president of the Sergeants Benevolent Association, said he was not surprised by the public demonstration of disgust.

“The atmosphere with the mayor and the police is definitely strained,” he said. “When you look at how he goes over there (to Germany) and protests, while the cops here are battling with protesters every day, you go 'What is he doing?'

“I talked with hundreds of cops today and they have about had it with the mayor and the police commissioner and their policies. They don't feel that either one of them has their backs. It's very hypocritical.”
Using the funeral of a fallen officer to make a political statement is so disrespectful.

I agree.

The cop hating de Blasio should have declined the opportunity to speak.

You're right! DeBlasio shouldn't have been speaking.
And DeBlasio's European vacation was not??
The Mayor is disrespectful.
If the family wanted him to speak then he should speak and other officers listen politely. If they asked him not to speak then he shouldn't have spoke. I just doubt the family asked him not to speak and he did it anyway.

Conservatives literally don't care about that. They will give a police officer a pass on any unethical behavior
The mayor is an enormous Ray Watts

The guy is every effing thing that is hateful about that group of mental degenerates. I hope he contracted anal herpes in Hamburg.

Well you're wrong. DeBlasio is a socialist regressive, which means he blasts and denigrates the NYPD one day. Then shows up at "events" like this the next day to pander to them and show the low information voter that he's a friend of law enforcement. It's sickening and your condoning this behavior is equally sickening.

Where did you see the family asked him not to speak? If they did then he shouldn't have been there out of respect to the family I just havnt seen that yet.

Where did you see that the family asked him to speak? You were the one who brought it up so the burden of proof is on you.
I find his speaking at the funeral to be far more disrespectful than the turning of backs.

Every officer in that department should be worried about having that clown at the helm--and apparently they are.

When you have a public funeral things come with it. If the family wanted to have a private ceremony they should have said so.

How about practically anytime a high-profile homicide makes the news. Have you ever heard Democrats piggy back off the event with talk of gun control?

It's what they do.

Frankly, it's almost like they can't wait.

The same place where you saw that the family asked him to speak.

Pretty sure the mayor speaking at a fallen officers funeral is the default. I don't know for sure but it would seem odd for the family to not know the mayor would be speaking.

You libs just have to hate on the police, even today.

Quote:NYPD Commissioner At Slain Cop’s Funeral: “Where Are All The Demonstrations For THIS Single Mom”

This is who the Dem's and Obama supported...

Well libs, your beloved cop haters you worship, had them a dead cop to celebrate today.

You two certainly have an interesting - and warped - world view.

Yeah, because Sandra Bland was totally murdered before she was arrested. (Which, of course, is bullsh*t. She hanged herself because she couldn't face the consequences of what she did. Yeah, the traffic stop may have been a ticky-tack one, and yeah, the arresting officer may have gone overboard in subduing her, but she was clearly being disrespectful. Her suicide could have been avoided if she had only shown the officer respect. But she didn't.) Because Michael Brown was "a gentle giant who did nothing wrong". (Which, according to Obama's own Justice Department, was a false narrative given the fact he charged officer Darren Wilson and literally tried to kill him! What does that mean, you asked? "HANDS UP! DON'T SHOOT!" DIDNT' EVEN HAPPEN!) Holy crap, dude! Also, as someone with peace officers in my extended family (my great uncle Vern Miller is a Harris County Precinct 3 deputy, for example), I know what is ethical behavior and what isn't. So don't you ever generalize conservatives and right-leaning independents as those who dismiss unethical behavior by law enforcement again.
