Anywhere you could possibly find to park for the game, if in walking distance, is a fine area. There is really only one "bad" part of Greenville. If you're tailgating there, you're horrendously lost.

My remarks were not directed towards tailgating but rather lodging, dining, and maybe taking in a bar. Some are spending two nights.

It's pretty clear where you don't want to go. Stadium isn't really close to any bad parts.

I think I stated that, did I not? The remark had nothing to do with the game or tailgating. But there is no way to compare the comfortably safe feeling of Harrisonburg to the "not so sure about" much of Greenville. I don't know if there is a street in Harrisonburg I would not walk on alone at 2:00 am, you could never say that about Greenville.

I believe you should warn the Harrisonburg utopians about the traffic on I-95, especially around Richmond it can get tricky with all those ruffians driving around.

The biggest risk walking alone at 2:00am in Hburg is being stopped and arrested for public intoxication.
Greenville is a fine place. I was there for 7 years and 2 degrees, and never once had a safety issue. I did PLENTY of walking around after 2 AM.

It should also be noted that the population of Greenville is nearly twice that of Harrisonburg. More people = more potential issues.

There is a very obvious bad part of Greenville, and unless you're looking for a $29/night or pay by the hour motel for your stay, you won't be in any danger. Same goes for the bars.

Fearmongering is pointless.

The only folks from JMU that are going to get assaulted in Greenville will be wearing pads.

When you were walking around at 2 AM, did you successfully turn tricks?

LIMITED GENERAL PUBLIC PARKING
Parking for football fans without reserved parking passes will be available in the Carol Belk Building lot along Charles Boulevard ($20 per vehicle) and in the gravel lots along 14th Street ($20 per vehicle). Parking is limited and lots will open six hours prior to kick-off for weekend games (8:00 a.m. for kick-offs earlier than 2:00 p.m.), and 4:00 p.m. for weeknight games. Spaces will be first-come, first-served. Access to the lots along 14th Street will be shut down four (4) hours prior to kick-off.

I wonder if a possible option for later arrivals if that Belk lot is full is there apparently is a lot from a closed K-Mart that looks to between the Belk Building and the Greenville Mall, right behind the Belk Building Zone 3 on the above map, just off the map. The ECU sports website now doesn't mention it, but from parking info for ECU's last home last season it was mentioned as one of several possibilities not run by ECU or the city where people could pay to park at. Google says Belk Building .7 mile walk to the stadium, K-mart lot .8 mile.

Towson fan here. When a group of us went to the TU ECU game 2 years ago we parked and tailgated at the K-Mart lot. It was literally their last day before it closed, but we used the restrooms there. Not a bad lot, a good walk to the stadium, but easy to beat traffic in and out. right off a main road and it wasnt to crowded.

Thanks Towson. I'm shooting for 2 hrs before kickoff, so if the Belk Lot is full I might be parking in the Kmart.

Okay, it looks like I'm going to be a really late arrival and will need a quick exit after we win. 04-cheers Where should I park? I'll be coming towards the stadium from 264, should I park out at the Greenville Mall? Will there be some availability after 5:00? Will that area be able to get out of town quickly? Unfortunately work is putting a damper on the weekend, but I'm determined to go.

Yea, if you just want a place to park your car and walk to the game or meet up with someone, the mall would probably be a great option. It's free and probably be quick getting out after catching an L.02-13-banana

I can't get there any earlier, I have to work until 1:00 and that is in Lynchburg, VA. It's a four hour drive from there. Then I have to be back to go into work at 7:00am Sunday morning. By the way, KO is at 6:00 not 7:00.

Sunday will be a long 12 hours of work, but I'll have a couple of days to recover once make it through those two days. I'm now in manufacturing and we never shut down. We get a lot of time off but that weekend isn't coinciding with my off time. Fortunately, I have a buddy willing and wanting to tag along and my wife says go for it.

The ECU sports website now doesn't mention it, but from parking info for ECU's last home last season it was mentioned as one of several possibilities not run by ECU or the city where people could pay to park at. Google says Belk Building .7 mile walk to the stadium, K-mart lot .8 mile.

The Kmart lot is no longer a possibility for parking and tailgating. They built a Publix supermarket there a couple months ago.

The mall is only about a mile from stadium I'd say. If kickoff is at 7 I'd get there at 4 to be safe

I can't get there any earlier, I have to work until 1:00 and that is in Lynchburg, VA. It's a four hour drive from there. Then I have to be back to go into work at 7:00am Sunday morning. By the way, KO is at 6:00 not 7:00.

One hour before is pushing it idk. I'm honestly not sure about the mall because I don't go by there on gamedays, but I would might try to find a parking pass I could buy.
There are also folks who own houses surrounding the stadium that open up their yards to cars for a fee. Plenty of folks tailgate in those spots. I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier, and drive around to see what you can find as close as possible.
