Remember when Obama said pass Obamacare and there would be a $2500 saving for a family of 4. Pass Obamacare and you can keep your doctor and your plan. Remember those???

I remember...Mach is the smartest man on the board though. We always have to remember that fact. We are just mathematically challenged peons compared to his brilliance.
The sad part of this is that we have people retiring that failed to plan for retirement on their own... and we have a SS system that is nothing but a Ponzi scheme that gives a horrible ROI. If you retire and can not bring in a minimum of 80% of your working income through personal investment supplemented with SS?....You are likely to face problems.
We need SS reform and tax reform to help with this situation. Give young people options to invest a portion of their SS in safe but higher yield instruments and we "real" middle class tax cuts to put money back in their hands so they can save.
Id like to see a personal SS account that one could actually add additional dollars to tax free like a 401k.

W. tried that and it got demagogued to death. That simply is not going to happen. Not in the next 10-15 years anyway.

I think the issue could resonate now. Young people like my daughter understand how bad the SS system really is.

She didn't have the stamina. Her campaign weekly schedule consisted of 1 event and 4-day weekends. Anything more grueling than that and the Parkinson's shows up.
