LaMarcus Lee (6'2 SG) has committed to New Mexico State after having a solid freshman year at Copiah-Lincoln where he averaged 15.6 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 2.5 APG while shooting 40% from the field and 35% from 3. Has four years to play three.
NMSU has definitely become a guard oriented team. I find it interesting that when most of the current members joined the WAC, NMSU had the team with the most size and bruising style. Now, NMSU might be the shortest team in the conference. Yet, through our coaching changes, our program refines its method of winning WAC tournament championships. We've gone from being mostly a methodical punishing offense to one of speed and superior conditioning. At the same time, most of the WAC has stocked up on bigs... 6'11 Fallou Ndoye, 6'11 Boubacar Toure, 6'10 Alessandro Lever, 6'10 Roberts Blumbergs, 7'3 Aaron Menzies, 6'10 Scott Ulaneo, 6'10 Dan Kimasa, 7'1 Johny Crnogorac, 7'2 Mo Ahmed, 6'10 Danny Dixon, 7'0 Akolda Manyang, and 6'11 Isaac Neilson.

The only problem is all these big men are soft. The big men we had under Menzies dominated the paint. These big men in the WAC don't do that. It's why a much undersized big like Eli Chuha had dominated them. The best big men in this league are the 6'7/6'8 guys.

All good points but I wouldn't say that all of Menzies big men ran the wac. I remember an undersized Grandy Glaze had his way with Bhullar. I'd also like to point out that half the big men on the list above haven't played much if any WAC minutes. I'm worried about the problems a healthy Aaron Menzies will give the Lopes personally.

First, you remember Glaze outplay "Tanveer" Bhullar? Well, then you remember only 5 minutes of play in two games; because that was the total time Tanveer played against GCU that season. The "starting" frontcourt for NMSU the season Glaze played was 6'10 Soph. John Wilkins, 6'5 Soph. Jalyn Pennie, and 6'9 Soph. Pascal Siakam... and Siakam dominated the paint.
Second, my point is the WAC is getting taller while at the same time NMSU has shrunk in size. Our best big man is only 6'8ish (Eli Chuha). We've lost 7'3 Tanveer Bhullar and most likely 6'10 Frosh Bollo Gnahore and Coach Jans has yet to sign a big man.

NMSU has had dominating big men since joining the WAC. You could also put 6'9 Tyrone Nelson, 6'10 Hatila Passos and 7'0 Martin Iti in that group. They played under Theus but his teams also dominated the post.
