Love it
The best part about that is that on a neutral field we'd be favorites by almost a full touchdown.
Is this the first time JMU is a betting line favorite against their FBS opponent?
it will swing the other way by game time because the betting public will not really know much about either team, will just see an FCS at an FBS and think this is a winner.

The money will flood in on ECU in the next few months.

Not necessarily. People may bet on us since we won the FCS title. There's a possibility that line may actually go higher. Based on the ECU boards, even they aren't sure they are going to beat us. I think it's becoming more and more known that the upper tier FCS teams can beat lower FBS teams (sorry ECU, but that's what you've been).
I do expect the line to move closer to ECU, but I would seriously doubt that line would go any more in their favor than ECU -3.5.
If this game is any more than that, I'm putting everything I have on the Dukes.
I looked last night on Boneyard Banter to see if they were aware of the point spread. There was no mention of it. Although Boneyard Banter is a free site, it's got that horrible set up like UVA's, where everything is a string of one sentence thoughts and responses. I don't know anything about designing websites; just know that style is without a doubt TERRIBLE! (They do get a lot of participation though)

Yep, if we had a message board designed that way, there's a lot of folk who'd be glad that I'm no longer posting. 04-rock

That's from a lot of Dukes fans betting on the upset. I will be interested to see what the late line does. That's going to be more the smart money/Vegas bookie bets.

...or since it is a 5dimes early line, it moved to -5.5 because of one $20 max bet (not even joking).

5dimes sets lines early as their gimmick to drive amateur betting action and it reacts wildly to small max bets ($20). Once CRIS opens the action with the real line 5dimes falls into line and takes larger action.

That's not their main message board. Check out hoistthecolours.

Here's the thread you want: http://eastcarolina.247sports.com/Board/...t-52078943

The topic of today's betting line starts on page 2. A few JMU posters getting their fan's panties in a bunch. They're scared.

Cool. Thanks for the link, and a readable one at that! I love the fact that we are "currently" favored. Gives us a little smack to talk.

In my years speculating on college football, I always feared (and rightfully so) games that looked too good to be true. Many ECU fans view this bet as too good to be true-getting points at home against an FCS team. The FBS bias will eventually drive the line down. I am still going to ask the unknowing local Pirate fans for 14 and will settle for 10. I'll get several to bite on that too, just due to pride. I better get cracking on that though, before Billy Walters unloads on the Dukes!

Looking at the fcs v fbs games, if I were a betting man I would get down on the W&M game. They are getting too many points from UVA. I would take Albany and the 17 , Presb and the 35.5 vs WF. And, how can fake GSU be giving that many points to anyone?

I'm taking Elon over Toldeo. Now, if they were playing Toledo, I wouldn't touch that one.....

Seriously though, some of these are tempting.

would anyone be mad at me if I bet ECU on this one? hahaha... -5.5 is rediculous

Also think W&M keeps it much closer than 19 vs UVA

DUDE WHY MUST YOU RUIN EVERY THREAD?!??
Checked the line tonight at 5Dimes. Don't see our game listed any longer. Vince McMahon must have unloaded on the Pirates.
