I was musing about this year's disappointing baseball season and something came to mind. Over the last few years an osprey (seahawk) lived somewhere on or near campus. It would regularly perch on the light towers at Brooks Field as well as soar above the field during games. This year for some reason he was not very regular with his appearances. We all know baseball players are somewhat superstitious (not to mention many loyal fans). Could this year's lackluster season be because our Hawk (osprey) was so often missing during games?
I know this doesn't account for our poor road record but we weren't our usual selves at home either.
Give it some thought. We need more regular visits from our real life mascot! 03-wink

Here come the conspiracy theories, did one of our conference rivals kidnap said osprey?
Why a conference rival? Maybe the fatherless malcontents from armpit county could have purloined the bird. How is that for a conspiracy theory?

The could certainly use something good to look at there. However, i'm not sure the osprey would survive in that heinous environment.
Good point. A toxic waste dump (i.e., armpit county) is no place for such a noble creature in which to survive.

Places in Pitt County actually look like war zones.
