This is for all of you who hang onto the TTT thing like small children. There are two Universities in this state with perpetual TTT . They would be Ole Miss and Ms. State .
Neither has won a conference championship in football in 50 years or never, NEVER .
Southern Miss has won MANY . Neither has won ANYTHING of significance in basketball in many years with the exception being States run to the final four several years ago .
Southern Miss has far exceeded both in terms of football championships and fares well when compared in baseball accomplishments in recent years, yet you do not see their fans posting about TTT like whiny little girls . Get over yourselves and quit wringing your hands like a bunch of pansies all the time . Southern Miss accomplishes more with less revenue than most programs in the entire country . Some of you are just hard to love - but I still try.

I agree that there is way to much TTT whiny crap on the board. But I also have to say that in this case it was BASEBALL. The one sport that we should be able to compete even on our budget. And we just got beat TWICE by one of those other schools that's having an average year (in their standards). And they were coming out of the losers bracket, because they got beat by a team we won over. So, to me, that is pretty much a TTT moment. Maybe second in line to the loss at UAB Fedora's last year. In this case I'm giving the whiners some space - especially the avid baseball fans that support the program. They'll be over it and ready for next year soon enough 04-cheers

I'm just glad the Predators won the same night to balance the emotions. 04-cheers
State swept us in a football home-and-home, almost always beats us in baseball midweek games, and just swept us in a doubleheader to oust us from a regional that we hosted.

The fact that OM and State aren't really great at anything doesn't mean our sports programs aren't continually subject to some pretty remarkable TTT moments. This regional is pretty high up on the list. How we pissed this opportunity away will haunt the baseball program for a minute.
Thank you, I can't wait for you to reply to yourself.

Now whine and wring your hands a little more.
I think we all react a little too negatively to the TTT sh!t...(yours truly included)

I remember all the great years with Favor, beating AU and UA at their place, both in one season...(who has done that?)

USM and Nasty ended the B'ar's unbelievable home winning streak...

USM went to Liberty Bowl and thrashed Pittsburgh...

USM thrashed #7 TCU on national TV...

USM thrashed undefeated Houston on national TV...

We have to compare ourselves to our peers (once Tulane, ECU, Memphis...now UTTTSA, ODU and ULaLa), who rarely TTT 'cause they never get to a level where TTT applies!

We expect a steak and potatoes program, while we feast on a McDonald's Chee-burger Chee burger and small order of fries, budget...04-cheers

I assure we we have had MANY less of these " moments " than our little sisters up North have had. There football programs have generally been considered irrelevant in their conference for about 45 of the last 50 years .

Even though they have been irrelevant for 45 of the last 50 years it did not keep us from.....
losing to loserville in 81 the week after beating fsu 58-14,
losing to la tech in 82 the week after beating alabama 38-29
losing to state in 89 the after beating fsu 30-26
losing to a bad Pitt team in 91 at home on national television
losing to alabama when a 2nd string qb throws a td on a 4th and 22 from the 23 yard line
losing to houston the first year of cusa and not getting a bowl bid
losing to uab that may have costed us a bcs bid
e12loss debacle......

I am sure there are more but those are just off the top of my head

That is the weakest argument I've encountered on this board on any topic. THANK YOU for proving my point.

QED
Sometime around 2004 we got into the polls only to get dismantled at home by Cincy. For me it was just as bad as the infamous Louisville blowout in 2000.

It was 2004. Opened with a win at Nebraska, ran the record to 4-0 to get ranked, then got beat pretty badly at Bama, dropped out, got back in after another win, then got blown out 50-something to 10ish at home by Cincinnati, who, btw, had lost to Army the week before. "Dropped out of the rankings like a rock wearing a lead parachute" was how one local sportswriter put it.

Don't forget that OM swept us in baseball this year by sending the game into extra innings on a run scoring on a past ball and the game winning run came on a wild pitch during an intentional walk.
